I haven't actively dived into a video game in years, but man was this one worth it! I honestly think it's the best piece of Spider-Man content since the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

I'm only like, 20% finished with the story mode, haha. Great experience so far though. I'd have to agree with you there Webber.

20%? You gotta step your game up Excellent, and I don't want to hear any excuses! Excited to hear what you think once you finish it. And BackinBlack, you probably know this already by now, but in case you don't: yes, you can start a New Game+ after beating the game.

I reached the Helicopter part that was heavily advertised leading up to the games release. At that point though, I signed out and went to bed. The open world stuff is overwhelming, but I'm loving it. I guess I get a little lost in side missions. The amount of times I've failed to stop simple bank robberies is demoralizing though. When I was a kid, I didn't play games much, but I played enough to know where each of the buttons were. I've played so little in the last few years, and on the last generations Xbox at that, that I don't even have the basic muscle memory to know where triangle and x are... It's shameful.

I got the PS4 bundle last Tuesday and just today completed the campaign 100% (main story, side missions, and the rest). I'm kind of hording tokens right now, not buying all the suits and gadget upgrades yet. Though the suits I've unlocked include Insulated, Dark, Stealth, Velocity, Spider-Armor MKIV, Anti-Ock armor, MCU Homemade, and Undies. The MKIV Armor is my favorite; while every suit does well to fit the aesthetic of the world, that suit in particular really felt right to use, especially going up against the Six. I had quite a bit of a learning curve, mostly because it's my first PlayStation when I've always been an Xbox guy; honestly, the hardest part was remembering the X is on the bottom instead of the left. But yeah, I died. Like a lot. It was frustrating until I realized it's all about strategy (and I didn't know I could heal myself with the focus bar with any of the suits; also, dodging is your best friend, especially against Taskmaster). After that, I was able to make it through the rest of the story with minimal problems. The webswinging is fantastic; it's not only the best it's been since Spider-Man 2, but the non-stop momentum makes it probably the most fun part of the game. As for the story, I love the cinematic quality, and in a way, it's actually the best Spider-Man movie that never was, and even tops Spectacular as the best adaptation of the character. And never has a superhero game hit me with a powerhouse of emotion like this game did, especially the ending. DLC is next. Looking forward to using the Resilient, Scarlet Spider II, and comics Iron Spider suits, despite them not having their own special abilities (would it have killed them to give us spider-stingers like Kaine has?). But excellent, keep at it. You'll get the hang of it. If you have to, just keep your distance, throw stuff, and of course... It'll build your focus meter, which you can use to heal and get back in the rumble of it all.

For sure, glad to get an update from you. I've sunk some hours into it and started to get the feel for the controls again. I'm actually running through it pretty smoothly now. It usually takes me a good 5-10 minutes before I start playing smoothly, but that's only because I just don't play games in general I suppose. Probably playing about once a week on average, but when I do play I play for hours.
I will admit, my first ever console was the original Playstation back in 1999. From there, I upgraded to a Gamecube, then a Wii (which felt more like a Gamecube with gimmicks and better cell shading). I didn't play games for a while until Arkham City, which I played on my brother's Xbox 360. I actually played Arkham Asylum for myself after it had been out for a while, then Arkham City, and when Arkham Knight came out I played it when it was still new. Come to think of it, I guess I did play that one on the PS4, so my muscle memory excuse breaks apart. Or maybe it doesn't... because when first playing Spider-Man PS4, I was trying to do things from Arkham Knight, so I guess the excuse is still someone honest from me. Anyway, the game has been great. This is definitely the most sympathetic version of Doc Ock I've ever seen, and I'm a fan of Superior Spider-Man Ock, and classic Doc Ock. This one is like Alfred Molina from the Spider-Man 2 movie, only with more screen time and surprisingly even more tragic.

Exactly on two points.
I was trying to play this like an Arkham game too, but then I realized, it makes more sense to strategize. Even if he's done this for awhile, Peter's not a trained combatant like Bruce is.
As for Otto, it's a good mix of Molina and Spectacular. He has good intentions, but he was just pushed too far. Honestly, it's a lot better than his arms telling him to rob a bank. The aftermath of the final battle was also one of the emotional parts I was talking about; Peter and Otto had a much closer relationship than the film version. And on the subject of Superior, I'm starting to see what people are saying about that scenario happening in the future, most likely the third game.

Finished the game last night. So emotional, this game. To be honest, I was super pissed about Aunt May dying . I get that Pete's story is all about dealing with tragedy, but sometimes, a character deserves more. When it comes to characters getting the short end of the stick, few get it shorter than Peter Parker. I mean, maybe comic book Cyclops or Daredevil, but Marvel really likes to f*** with Peter. The video game gives you this interesting experience of being Spider-Man. That's what video games do I suppose, but this is the first time where I really, really felt like I was Peter. You pour hours into the character in costume, fighting desperately to save the city. You wonder, "What the hell are the cops doing? Why don't they call the national guard? Where are MY parents??? Oh wait... :' ( " But you play on and fight through almost too many side missions, and then you find out your hero has become a monster, your best friend's father is a monster, your aunt's amazing boss is a monster... and then your Aunt dies. Aunt May used to be off limits, she was. Then freaking Civil War and its aftermath happened . There ain't no rest for the weary, that's for sure. As far as gameplay goes, this game is second to none in the Spider-Man archives. As far as story goes, it's strong, but I liked how the PS1 games played out both times. I'm definitely interested in more adventures, but I have to say, I'd like it if we had the aid of other heroes. You see all of their locales, yet, none of them are there. This is a Spider-Man game, and he should be front and center, but still. Avengers Tower is there, no Avengers. You get to see all the Netflix characters' famous locales, none of them are there. The Sanctum is there, but no Doctor Strange. I know an Avengers game is coming out, but it would still be nice. Especially because this game is so awesome, I'd love to get to see those characters in that amazing setting.

You did it! And yeah, you bet that ending was something else... I think it really works in a game chock full of side-missions, because it really makes us, the player, vicariously feel Peter's guilt. You know, what if we didn't do one last silly Task Master challenge, maybe we would've been slightly faster and saved her.

Yeah, as an aside, that Avengers project game isn't going to be out for a while it seems. It's anyone's guess.

I'm low key salty that the DLC effected my trophy percentage. I was 100% and now I'm 63. I get that it still gives you the platinum, but looking on there and seeing a 63 infuriates me. Guess I'm a perfectionist.

Ha, I feel you, but it's pretty quick to get 100% on the DLC and NG+. Anyway, I was honestly pretty let down by the DLC. The first chapter was alright, I definitely enjoyed the dynamic between MJ and Peter in reaction to Black Cat, but then it got less interesting real quick. Overall, I'd say each chapter is about as compelling as the Tombstone side mission, that is to say not very much.

I think they missed a real opportunity with Randall Park from Ant-Man and the Wasp. I could easily see him as Mr. Negative. He gives off that innocent do-gooder vibe that would throw off suspicion of him being a crime boss. With him already playing Jimmy, I could also see Ng Chin Han (played the business guy in The Dark Knight) playing the role. Han was actually part of the World Security Counsel in Winter Soldier, but we have had actors do two different roles in the MCU before due to how minor they were. Alfre Woodard was Miriam Sharpe in Civil War before signing on as Mariah Dillard in Luke Cage. I also had the same feeling with David Wenham as Harold Meachum on Iron Fist that he could have been a good Norman Osborn.
