I got bored and decided to watch Episodes IV and V today. Afterwords, I got on to youtube and started watching videos about fan theories concerning the new movies, which got me thinking about some things. Who do you guys think Rey's parents are? Do you think Kylo Ren will eventually turn back to the light like Anakin did? Is Rey the new "chosen one"? My theory is that Rey is the grand daughter of Obi Wan Kenobi, and I think Obi Wan Kenobi's daughter would've been the result of a love affair he had during the Clone Wars with Satine Kryze. A lot of people point out how they think Rey is Luke's daughter, but it's also entirely possible she could be Obi Wan's granddaughter simultaneously. Luke could meet Obi-Wan's daughter and fall in love because of her connection to Luke's old mentor, and they shack up and have Rey. Makes sense to me

Can't believe you guys don't have a Rise of Skywalker thread. What do you think about the leaks? Are they true or nah?

Honestly, we rarely ever talk about Star Wars here. I mean, look at this page alone lol. As for Rise of Skywalker, I tend to avoid leaks in general. I'm looking forward to it though and going opening night. I did that for Last Jedi too since I waited too long to see Force Awakens and got spoiled.
Might as well give my thoughts on the sequels while I'm here. Really enjoyed Force Awakens and consider it the best of the franchise. I also really like Last Jedi, with how it subverted expectations, touched on real-life politics, and offered one of the best Luke Skywalker moments ever. However, it has this one plothole that I just can't get over: Holdo not telling Poe or anyone about her plan just lead to more trouble. Think about it, if Holdo just revealed her plan, Finn and Rose wouldn't have gone off and eventually pick up DJ, and DJ wouldn't have betrayed them and gotten more people killed. I understand things need to happen in films for the narrative to happen, but man this just bugs me. I mean, the Ben and Rey scenario would have played out the same, as she still would have escaped after the lightsaber exploded.
I was watching Force Awakens last week and it got me thinking that Rey may still be a Skywalker, just not in the traditional sense. She could be 1) a child of the force like Anakin, or 2) a clone made from Skywalker DNA, like how X-23 was made from Wolverine; it would explain the Dark Rey we saw.

I'm pretty well convinced that dark Rey is a force vision akin to Luke fighting Vader in the cave on Dagobah. I'd almost bet money on it

Glad you liked it Lopli. I personally didn't find it very entertaining to be honest, it had its moments, but as a whole, it felt okay at best.

Yeah. This reminds me of when Bryan Singer left X-Men to do Superman Returns, and then Brett Ratner came in and did X3. Years later, Singer did Days of Future Past and used it as a big f*** you to Ratner. I can understand the fans getting upset, but I think it's hypocritical for Abrams to come back and try to apologize for the film he could have done himself. I understand that he's a guy who creates these mystery boxes and doesn't always have the answers to these mysteries. If that's how he operates, then so be it, but he shouldn't then go and say "you ruined my plan"! if he didn't actually have one. If anything, this movie shows that he did have some of the answers and he could have made a decent trilogy if that's what he had set out to do. Instead, we have something in between and I find myself supremely annoyed with him.

I have no idea what the internal politics were, but it definitely felt like they had no plan and wished for a miracle, kinda like the original trilogy.
