I'll be really interested in how they treat this. Things I'd like to see:
The development of language amongst the apes. Will they use the language of the oppressor, or develop their own as they become the dominant species? What type of society will the apes build? Will there be multiple societies in contention with each other? Once the Apes are the dominant species, will they strive for another "greater" purpose? Who are the humans in this film, what's their significance to the story this time around?

According to Josh Wilding of comicbookmovie.com, Rupert Wyatt has backed out of the film, because he doesn't want to rush the film. His source is Deadline. Seriously, this sucks. The first one was pretty darn good, it had me clamoring for another. I'm not going to condemn the franchise because of his departure, but would it be too much to ask for a little more time from Fox? We'll see what they have to say about the matter soon enough. www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=67429

"Let Me In" was pretty solid. I don't know who the other front runners were, but I'm satisfied with him being the guy to replace Wyatt. Prior to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", Wyatt had only directed one film, so it's not like I had a whole lot of extra faith riding on him being the only one who could handle the franchise. Still a bum break for him though, even if he chose to leave given Fox's time conditions.

Shooting starts in March: www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/BatFreak/news/?a=70046#894Pbri0m9wvQ2jZ.01Here's a plot summary released as well: "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" continues the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar (Andy Serkis) presides over the fall of human civilization. After the apes break out of their facility, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society. The new project is taking the story to the next level, with the apes on the path to emerge as society’s new rulers.

I had never really seen any of the Planet of the Apes movies but, I caught some older ones on TV the other day and they were pretty interesting. Might have to catch up to this, seems alright.

I was a huge fan of both the original and the re-imagining. I never got around to watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Can someone fill me in on the conditions of the story line? Is this another prequel that leads into the new POTA?

It was a little earlier than 03 I think. Michael Bay and Tim Burton had a hand in it I believe. Mark Wahlberg, Michael Clarke Duncan. I never saw it either. Rise of the Planet of the Apes follows the life and beginnings of the chimpanzee Caesar. Caesar is born to a smart chimpanzee who was treated with this revolutionary serum, created by James Franco's character. Ceasar is raised by Franco as a pet/family member. The older he gets, the smarter he gets, and he begins to resent his position in society. So he goes and starts some shit with the other apes, and that's the gist of the movie. It's a big hollywood movie that has some intelligence behind it, a revolution movie in a sense, hence the title "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". I don't think it bears any resemblance to the original franchise, but it's a fantastic film. Andy Serkis is incredible.
