Sony just released samples from their The Amazing Spider-man 2 soundtrack. You can have a listen by clicking on the link below, but beware, there be spoilers in them titles. I listened to the whole thing without looking at the titles, but sometimes you let your eyes slip for a second and see things you wish you hadn't.

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. You can definitely hear a lot of Zimmer in there, but Marc Webb's Magnificent Six "super group" or whatever it is they're calling themselves have put something very unique together. Webb went on record yesterday saying that it's unlike any other superhero movie score out there, and to that end, I'd have to say that it's unlike any other movie score out there period. Because it's Hans Zimmer, you can hear influences from some of his earlier works (Batman), but it all fits in beautifully with this newly crafted Spider-man stuff. That really has to be emphasized. Remember those excellent electric guitar motives we'd hoped to get from movie 1? It's in there. Not the exact same motives, but along those lines. I half suspect this movie could evoke tears, and not necessarily due to character deaths (which I know nothing of, someone could die). All in all, I love what I'm hearing. There are a couple of lyrical tracks on the album as well, including original and previously released material. Mostly indie sounds, which may or may not turn a few viewers off. Of course, having not seen the movie, I have no idea how it'll come together.
You definitely wouldn't have gotten (surprised that's a word) something like this from many directors. It's possible we wouldn't have gotten something like this from any other director. Fingers crossed that it sounds amazing in its completion, and that the movie is great to boot.
