Talk about anything Hawkeye in this thread. My experience in comics with this character is limited to Matt Fraction's recent stories. This man can do no wrong in my eyes. His Hawkeye stories have some of the best character work I've ever read, from him especially. While his Iron Fist stories were a thoughtful reimagination/fleshing out of the character's lore, it was the story that was front and center for that book. Fraction's Iron Man run was a great balance between character and story. Here, I think, he does even better. I've only read the tpb compilation "My Life as a weapon", but within its 4-5 issues, you get a great sense of who Hawkeye is. Try as they might in the movies, he's just not as cool as his fellow Avengers. That's so completely not the case in these stories. Of all my recent reads lately, Superior Spider-man, Astonishing X-Men, Miles Morales Spider-Man, it's the Hawkeye books I'll be investing more time into next.

Yesterday I finished Fraction's run on Hawkeye, which ends with the Rio Bravo arc. It is through and through a very solid book that gets a little weird at times in some very fun ways. Clint has a dog who gets his own issue and the reader gets to follow him around throughout his little "doggy day". It's revealed that Clint is deaf so the creators have an intuitive way of showing that Clint can't hear . I really like the way Kate Bishop, who also holds the mantle of Hawkeye, is written. Of all the female characters in comics that I've read, written by men, she's probably the best written. She's a real person, with her own adventures. You care for her and think of her as a person above all, even though she is smart, quircky, attractive and all those things. So there's all that. There's also some really good humor and relationship stuff the book works into its plot, almost none of it romantic (which I actually missed). Check this out!
