The trailer for Justice League finally made me think Aquaman was cool. I will definitely be going to see this

There was a commenter on comicbookmovie.com who said that this trailer gives off a Jupiter Ascending and Valerian vibe. While that's not exactly a compliment, I don't completely disagree. Visually, it looks really cool overall. I love this idea that Aquaman has to Unite the 7 different sea kingdoms, and (I'm speculating here) has to do a little Indiana Jones style globe trotting to find something to do that? Is it another trident? I loved Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Thor Ragnarok for engrossing me in their adventures that took place in new locales. I love being transported to new worlds in film. This movie looks like it's primed to do that on the level of... Avatar*, which has me more excited than anything about this project. Kevin Feige said that Marvel put a little more $$ into bringing the world of Wakanda to life, and their efforts paid off. Wakanda definitely felt like a small nation, as opposed to just one shiny hidden city, and there were several tribes that came together throughout the film. Similarly with Aquaman, Atlantis the nation is comprised of 7 sub kingdoms, all of them interacting, and Atlantis the city is sort of like their nation's capital. I'm just excited because the ocean covers 70% of the Earth's surface, so the possibilities for grand scope are so much bigger than what we usually get in a superhero movie.
*This is somewhat ironic, considering how long it's taking Avatar to come out. The sequels are rumored to be using ground breaking technology to film underwater sequences in ways we've never seen before. Other rumors say Cameron is trying to perfect 3D so that we can watch films with the extra dimension without using those annoying glasses. Time will tell if this Aquaman movie ends up stealing some of the thunder from the Avatar sequels.

So there were special screenings tonight for Amazon Prime members, which I went to. I was a lot better than I expected, and dare I say, it might have been actually better than Wonder Woman (which there are some similarities). The visuals are spectacular (it's a shame the screening wasn't 3D), the chemistry between actors is on point, and the story did take some surprising turns. This once again proves what happens when studios don't meddle and just let the film makers share their vision. If Shazam can be just as good, the DCEU may be back on track and maybe work toward a Justice League 2; there's just the matter of keeping Affleck and Cavill on board.

I had seen that, kinda bummed I didn't look into it further. I'm going to see Mortal Engines today and maybe will do a double feature when Aquaman comes out. Bumblebee and that coming out the same day is still ridiculous to me, but at least Spider-man is getting time to shine. Glad to hear your positive words though. I've seen some things that worry me, but I was always going to check the movie out regardless.
