I just spent the last 3 days binging Cobra Kai. It wasn't a huge binge since I spread it out over 3 days, but it was still 5 hour of content. I recommend it for any real Karate Kid fans out there. It totally captures the heart of the originals, while getting it right when it comes to showing this generation of kids. What I really like about it is that it creates multiple protagonists of which you root for, and the only real antagonists are the inner demons each person is fighting. I honestly don't know who to root for, is it Johnny or Danny Larusso? Sometimes it was Johnny, and yet they don't make Danny to be an asshole to get you there. That's part of the magic of the show.
It's cheesy, well choreographed, and it has heart. What more could a Karate Kid fan ask for?

screenrant.com/cobra-kai-season-2-trailer/Did anyone ever check these out? This was like the biggest streamed show of 2018 last year wasn't it? It's so good at using its cheese factor. I truly believe anyone who gives the show a chance will be pulled in. That's assuming, of course, that you've seen the movies. The movies are cheesy and don't necessarily work, but I believe anyone who sat through the movies would find a lot of entertainment value in this show. I actually think they're superior to the films to be honest. Maybe not the first one since that one is an original and stays pretty tight within its narrative whereas the others kind of went off the rails. They're just as good as the first Karate Kid though, and well worth the watch.

I just finished season 2 of karate kid. Is anyone watching these? They're on YouTube premium but oh my gosh what a show. I cried! Wasn't expecting that. I'm somewhat impressed with my summarization in the post above. It's a tempered but accurate explanation of the show. I just watched like 3 hours straight of the show, which is nuts because I had a 16 hour work day two days in a row, and 14 hour work days the days preceding these last 2. I'm high on this movie though. The friendship, the tragedy, the frustration of kids who can't figure it the f*** out and the same goes for the adults. You just want people to be friends dammit. Aaaghhhh!!!
So thankful for this show to be coming out now. Originally it was kind of overwhelming because I'm a bit emotional about Endgame (first world problems, am I right?). Jokes aside, this will be the 2nd MCU film I'll be seeing without my buddy Matthew, but obviously this is the one we were all waiting for. Having multiple things come out that you were looking for simultaneously can be a bit much. I'm just happy to have the show.

So, it's finally here and it is awesome: Cobra Kai Season 3. This was a show that got a lot of positive attention from word of mouth, but not the viewership it deserved because it was on YouTube Red (later dubbed YouTube Premium). Netflix bought it, they released episodes back in August or September possibly, and all of the sudden it caught fire. Without saying anything of the plot, I have to say that this show continues to pull on the heart strings. The actors are clearly delighted to be a part of the series, and it's infectious. If any of you haven't checked the series out yet, I highly recommend you give it a try. You don't have to be a fan of the Karate Kid movies or even have seen them to enjoy the show. Of course, watching the movies first will enhance the experience in the same way you'd enjoy Mandalorian in a different way if you've seen the Star Wars films, or the Creed movies having seen the Rocky films. This has been my favorite show of the last 3 years or however long ago it came out.
EDIT: I will say that the show has a way of being cheesy (in a self aware kind of way), but also brutally over the top. Some have said this season maybe takes things too far. This was a charge that I initially dismissed because of the extreme consequences of Season 2's ending, but in looking back on the actions taken by the character known as "Hawk", I can now see where people are coming from. That being said, this is a show, and thus this is long form story telling, so it may be premature to criticize the show right now when the story is still being told. I do hope that certain problematic actions are addressed in season 4 for sure tho because so far, the show has done an excellent job of exploring the consequences of people's actions.
