These are in no particular order, but these are my top movies of 2018 (I know I missed a lot of good ones):
Top Movies: Infinity War Black Panther Crazy Rich Asians Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse Mission Impossible: Fallout A Quiet Place Birdbox Annihilation Creed 2 (I actually think Michael B Jordan is better in Creed 2 than he is in Black Panther)
Movies I really enjoyed, but aren't my "top movies": Aquaman (most fun I've had all year, next to Infinity War and Crazy Rich Asians) Deadpool 2 Ready Player One Incredibles 2 Ant Man and the Wasp (I enjoyed this movie tremendously) Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (okay, so I enjoyed this one, but not as much as the others) Venom
The one movie I saw in the theater that I thought was just okay was: Halloween
I dunno, it just wasn't my cup of tea. There's a difference between watching a movie with the same sensibilities as the original but set in 2018 vs. watching the original which is set decades prior. I enjoyed the original, the new one was okay. Jaime Lee Curtis is cool, I just thought it'd be more entertaining than it was for me. Subjective obviously, anyway...

I thought the new Halloween was great but it did have a few things I wish were made more clear. Like, for instance, how did this version of Michael Myers survive getting shot six times and falling off a balcony? Did he bleed out in a bush somewhere and then they found him passed out? Did he off a few cops and then get gunned down again, tied up and thrown into the back of a van? If they didn't retcon Myers getting shot and then disappearing then wouldn't they have studied him? Taken a DNA sample or something to see if he's a mutant or immortal or not even human? That part never made sense to me. There's stills that make it look like they filmed a flashback opening but it wasn't on the DVD or the blu ray. Same thing with a supposedly confirmed "alternate ending" where Michael has a showdown on the lawn and is just left lying there with a chest wound from a bow and arrow. I'd like to know more about these things.
edit: for those unaware, Myers was shot six times and fell off a balcony at the end of the original Halloween. This movie is supposed to only acknowledge that film.
