www.comicbookmovie.com/eternals/eternals-reactions-hype-up-marvels-most-ambitious-movie-yet-and-make-some-interesting-dc-comparisons-a188952#gs.di07wwAt times I have liked the trailers, but not loved them. The marketing has honestly had me worried for this film. Recently in revisiting the trailers I can't help but feel that they are so generic. Almost as if marketing has no idea how to market the movie, and if that's true, how will the audience feel? Perhaps these early reactions are an alternative indication as to why the marketing feels the way it does. Perhaps there's just too much to unpack within its 2 hours and 30 minutes that wouldn't just give the whole store away? Or, maybe Scott Mendelson from Forbes has it right. Either way, these reactions to peak my attention again. I have been in love with the idea of the Eternals telling the origins of the universe. It seems that perhaps I will get that afterall. This movie can't get here soon enough for me. As an aside, I saw the Red Carpet Premiere yesterday. While I've only watched the premiere's of Black Panther and Shang Chi, I actually found those ones touching. There, people were thrilled to finally be represented on screen and you could feel their genuine emotion in their interviews, right along with the interviewers genuine emotion as well. Eternals could and should have had that as well, and yet it felt like Marvel does TMZ in the worst way. I couldn't stand parts of it and found myself fast forwarding a lot of it. Still looking forward to this movie though.

Robert Meyer Burnett is someone who has worked within the industry for years, a behind the scenes creative director of sorts. He's a huge fan of the genre and cinema in general, and his excitement is definitely cause for my excitement. Granted, Rob likes a lot of what comes out. However, when he said that Eternals is what Ridley Scott's Prometheus wishes it could be... I almost did a back flip. Is that a fair statement? Who knows, but ever since they revealed what this movie would be dealing with, I wanted it to be Marvel's Prometheus. To be honest, I enjoy give Prometheus more credit than most, but still.
So this begs the question: what will be the better movie? Eternals or Dune? You can't get any higher clout in your directors than the reigning, defending Best Director winner and Dennis Villeneuve. It also makes me wonder, would this movie be a Marvel movie that Dennis feels differently about? What about Martin Scorcese for that matter? How would he feel about Eternals?
These are all questions I'll be looking for answers to in the coming weeks / months. For the record, I was never one of those guys who pounced on either director for expressing their opinions. Not that I agreed with their opinions, but still. I genuinely am curious to see if this movie is the exception for them. If it's THE exception for the MCU and they don't do another one like it, will I mind? Will we mind? Will we even like this movie? I dunno, but my excitement grows daily.
