Well there are definitely some strong connections to the MCU. I always figured Toomes would be back in some fashion, but here is definitely a surprise (plus Leto finally gets to work with a Batman). In its own right though, it definitely looks interesting. Certainly shows more initial promise than Venom's first two trailers did for it.

This first trailer looks alright. Better than just alright actually. It kinda looks... dare I say it? Raw. However, it also somehow still looks like a Sony led Spider-Man spinoff to me. Something about the way the coloring is, the dark blue overcast look, the shiny black pointy letters in the font. Even the promise of an academy award level actor being front and center. That said, I don't have any real complaints about this trailer. It looks very intriguing, looks like it has a lot of potential. Imagine that this ends up being very good, and that Blade turns out to be one of Marvel's better entries. A cross over between these two could potentially lead to a Monsterverse akin to what Universal wanted a couple years ago. Especially if Venom's soft reboot with Andy Serkis at the helm takes a more horror centric route.
Back to the trailer itself though, I'm not at all interested in the "origin story" parts of it. Not on principle, but what I saw it (the scenes of his childhood) in the trailer didn't grab me. Maybe it'll turn out great in the movie itself, but just my 2 cents. I'll reserve final judgments for the movie itself, and acknowledge the possibility that future trailers could even change my mind.

I disliked it, but I understand though. The studio has to be conscious of what sort of competition will be around at that time, especially now that so many big movies are being pushed back. On another note, there's a quality to the Morbius trailer that reminds me of Venom. While that movie was fun and had some great things going for it, I hope that they don't expect to have the same level of success with Morbius while also having the same level of quality film. I'd be very surprised if the audience supports Morbius as much as they supported Venom if the quality wasn't there. That would also be 2 for 2 for Jared Leto being in a less than great "Superhero" genre movie.

I don't know. I just think Morbius has more going for it compared to Venom with the blatant Spider-Man/MCU connections (easier to draw in the casual MCU fans) and the opportunity to put their own spin on an relatively unknown character. As for Leto, WB really screwed over his version of Joker in Suicide Squad, but he is a good actor and he now has a proper chance to shine as a comic book villain. Will it be as successful as Venom? Probably not, but it could still do well on its own merits.

As far as Leto is concerned, I'm fully confident in him. I'm even excited to see what Andy Serkis has in store for us as the director, but I'm just worried about Sony. Will they, like the WB, screw Leto over in a comic book movie role? Hopefully they do right by him, the fans, and the general movie audience.

To be honest, I'm kind of liking the look of this more now than with the first trailer. The first trailer kind of feltl like a generic, sort of spoof of an action movie to me. Even though at the time I was somewhat intrigued because it's a Spider-Man character that's a vampire, it just looked a little off to me.
Looking at this one, I can see some promise here. Hopefully they execute it well.

Am I the only one who'd rather see him interact with Blade and Venom than Spider-Man?

Ssshhh!! They might do it if you're not careful. jk, but you're not alone apparently. That has been a budding subject around the web these days.
Am I the only one wondering if Morbius is the most powerful villain or antihero rather that Spider-Man has ever had? Physically I mean, because that boat scene was brutal. He's definitely the fastest villain Spider-Man has ever faced. I still can't tell if he has the ability to teleport or is just that fast. He's got razor sharp claws like the lizard that he uses to slice up and impale his opponents. He punched through a very, very dense metal door on that cargo ship. I honestly can't see Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man being able to beat the man, and he was very impressive at the end of Far From Home. Like, that version of Spidey gives anyone with lesser abilities than Thor, The Hulk, or Captain Marvel problems (I'm not going to talk about magic wielders).
Venom has some crazy impressive abilities, and besides sonics and extreme heat, is pretty much invincible, but those are some very exploitable weaknesses is all I'm saying. I'm actually getting hyped for this movie.

despite seeing Raimi's spider-man with "murderer" spray painted across it, I still think this is likely set in the Andrew Garfield universe as is Venom. They could easily change what Spider-Man is on that graffiti art and it could be a false flag to begin with.
My guess as to why Morbius's place in the multiverse is confusing is because it probably takes place while Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man is trapped in the MCU. This could explain the bus that reads "where is spider-man?" and the "murderer" poster could be in reference to the death of Gwen Stacy, I'd imagine Green Goblin in his civilian persona may want to launch a smear campaign to cover his tracks that night and protect his father's business. The only confusing thing really is Adrian Toomes. Is this a variant?

I don't think that's the case as some things don't match up, like OsCorp already having the symbiote in their vault and Ravencroft being in New York instead of California. Hopefully Morbius will give us some answers about where it's set; my theory was all the Spidey universes would merge into the MCU but that didn't happen.

Yeah, I was going with the merger thing too there for a while. I guess only time will tell, I'm honestly not too sure. None of the three universes as the setting make complete sense if you really think about it. It could be that Venom and Morbius are actually a 4th universe with a Spider-Man we've never seen before
