Yeah, I was going with the merger thing too there for a while. I guess only time will tell, I'm honestly not too sure. None of the three universes as the setting make complete sense if you really think about it. It could be that Venom and Morbius are actually a 4th universe with a Spider-Man we've never seen before That's possible. I was reading an article that I thought stretched the reach of Dr. Strange's spell a bit, but could open the doors to Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man. In the article, it was suggested that all Peter Parker's would be forgotten across the Multi-verse. With that being the case, it would make more sense for Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker to be willing to leave his world behind for another, especially if there was some mechanism that made it possible. I suppose you could say the same for Tobey. However, since he has spent so many years with his MJ, I'd see him do everything he could to win her back.

Sony had a pretty good a year in 2021. Venom: Let There Be Carnage was a top pandemic box office performer. Fans and audiences liked it. Their animated Mithchels vs. The Machines was also very well received. Don't Breathe 2 made over triple its budget. While 47 million dollars won't set the world on fire, they only spent 15 million on it. Ghostbusters Afterlife similarly didn't set the world on fire, but people liked it well enough, which is good considering the response to their 2016 effort. It also did okay at the box office (more than doubled its budget). Of course, Spider-man is still the talk of the town, and is now racing toward $1.4 billion dollars. All this without China and a variety of other markets it is set to open in but hasn't yet.
All that goes to say, I think Sony is feeling themselves right now. I think they have a lot of belief in their Morbius project. Hell, I have to give credit where it's due: they've managed to share one of the hottest IP and create a quality product for 3 consecutive films now. People can give Marvel Studios all the credit if they want to, but Universal hasn't been able to do that with the Hulk. Have they even tried? You know? Also, their Across the Spider-verse movie looks like an exciting follow up that could go in a lot of interesting directions. Even if their house built on Spider-Man, as of right now at least, it looks like Sony is playing the game well. Dare I say it, maybe they've even learned a few lessons along the way?
We'll see.

I'm hoping at some point they announce all their upcoming films. With the Sony verse expanding they'd be wise to take a card out of the MCU playbook and plan it in phases.

Didn't work out for them when they announced release dates for Amazing Spider-Man 3 and 4 and Sinister Six prior to ASM2's release.

I don't think they had an actual plan then though, they jumped the shark and probably didn't even have scripts finished or anyone hired for the projects. If they did that now, I'd have much higher hopes because I think Kevin Feige has helped them a lot. What I predict is going to happen is we'll get another Spider-Man trilogy, we'll get Morbius obviously and Venom 3 at some point. Somewhere Kraven the Hunter, Madam Web, Amazing Spider-Man 3 and maybe even Spider-Man 4 will all fit into that if you wanna call it a "phase". The thing I'm worried about is that the only movies that will be any good are the ones Marvel Studios help with, which will make everything super disjointed. I could see Venom 3 being ok and Morbius, Kraven, Madam Web and ASM 3 being awful. Then with spider-Man 4 I think it would be good regardless. I think the Sonyverse has the potential to end up like the DCEU where its super hit or miss if they don't plan accordingly. My hunch is that hopefully they have this time

I think if they're going to do an Amazing Spider-Man 3, they'd have to do it the right way. I've been a big fan of Andrew Garfield since his casting was announced back in 2010-11ish, and after listening to and reading so many of his interviews, I don't think he'd come back just for a big pay check. He already had a redemption in No Way Home (and if we are talking money he was paid about equal to what he earned in TASM 2*), and now he's an academy award nominated actor. Imagine if he actually wins? Even if he doesn't though, the movie would have to at least have something substantial to it. I say that because he has been clear about his passion and even the heartbreak of the project not being what it was intended. So if he's not hurting for money and if he is getting to work with all these amazing actors and directors, I just don't see him doing another Spider-Man.
A rumored plot for the movie that gets me excited though is a multi-verse cross over between Garfield's Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen. Similar to the comics and the movie, she has lost her Peter. They find each other, go on an adventure, fall in love... yep. I'd buy a few tickets for that. Honestly though, I don't think this TASM 3 thing is going to happen in any form, and I'm okay with that.
*I've read that in tabloids and more reputable publications too. I dunno how reliable they are on this story, but I'd put a few bucks on it for what that's worth.

I feel like the Andrew and Spider Gwen route would be the safest to go, it would be very emotional and also a good wrap up of his story.

Honestly, I got a little giddy finally hearing Matt Smith in this trailer. He's tied for my favorite Doctor alongside David Tenant, so I'm used to his more heroic side, but this trailer reminded me of when he was partially possessed by the Cyber-Planner and shows how well he could play a villainous role.

I wanna get hyped for this but they've delayed it so many times. It's kinda like planning a vacation then it keeps getting post poned and friends keep cancelling because they can't afford it so you just end up going by yourself or with one of your parents

Apparently the first reactions haven't been good. Bummer, I was hoping Sony would "redeem" itself in the eyes of the fans. I've been just as rabid as the other fans in the past, but I was starting to root for them. No Way Home bought a lot of good will from me. Especially because it had that quality like Endgame: take lesser movies in the franchise history and make them matter. Endgame did that with Thor: The Dark World, for example, whereas No Way Home did that for Spider-Man 3 and also The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
I'm going to wait and see until the actual reviews come out and depending on how people react who I usually trust*, I might still see it.
**Sometimes a negative reaction from people I trust can still lead me to seeing a movie.

Yeah, just how many bad reviews would give a better indication. Still, you never know. I actually liked the first Venom more that its sequel, which had the higher Tomato score.

Well it's bad but I've definitely seen worse. The story is rather uninspired with choices that range from cliche to bizarre coupled with CGI that leaves much to be desired. It mostly pulls its punches on the horror elements while the humor is nearly non-existent. The only praise I can give is that Jared Leto and Matt Smith turn in the best performances, the latter being exceptionally entertaining for me. You can definitely tell Smith was having fun on the film, and it fuels my hopes that he'll return to Doctor Who someday for a new multi-Doctor crossover (just saying, he's still got it).
And then there's the mid-credits scenes. I'll let TFS Semi-Perfect Cell field this one:
I know we have to endure whatever Sony wants to do to keep the Spider-Man partnership alive, but could they at least make things make sense?
