www.comicbookmovie.com/fantastic_four/rumor-mill-jennifer-lawrence-said-to-have-joined-the-cast-of-mcu-fantastic-four-reboot-a182623#gs.tljyykI don't think this is true, but it's among the first bit of "news" we've had since the announcement. My initial reaction is "no". Jennifer Lawrence seemed entirely bored of the X-Men franchise after First Class. Hindsight is 20/20 tho, and it seems some if not all of her apparent dislike of participating in these films comes from having to work with Bryan Singer. It's telling that she spoke so much more positively of Dark Phoenix than the other films, even though Dark Phoenix is easily the worst of the bunch. That said, she's one of the best actresses out there and if she were to bring genuine enthusiasm to the role I'd be happy to have her on board. Not that my opinion matters much, but I know that a lot of fans feel the same way. I think we've also seen Hollywood turn on her the same way they did Anne Hathaway. With Lawrence, my only gripe was that she was being a sour patch about a franchise that felt like it catered to her, much to its detriment. My frustration with her never went beyond that. With Hathaway, I have no idea what people were so upset about. She's lovely in interviews and she brings the whole package to her acting, but I digress. EDIT: Still holding out hope that we get the Krasinski / Blunt combo tho.

I wouldn't be opposed to her being Sue. From the stuff I've seen her in, I've never not liked her performance. I do think though that between Hunger Games and X-Men, she wouldn't want to jump into another major franchise so soon.

Right on man.
Truthfully, the studio choosing to push Mystique's story line isn't Lawrence's fault. It's the producers' fault for trying to cash in on Lawrence's celebrity and rising star at the time instead of focusing more on the ensemble. Also, what actor or actress wouldn't accept a popular franchise role that's written well enough and that tries to put a spotlight on their talent? Hell, we couldn't get enough of Fassbender now could we? I've seen others focus on how Fassbender and McAvoy both seemed to be having a blast whereas Lawrence would kind of jokingly complain in a lot of interviews. I complained about that for years, but again, who's to say her experience wasn't different than theirs? We hear about this happening on sets all the time. Generally, I haven't heard any stories of Jennifer Lawrence being difficult on the set of any of her movies, even the X-Men movies, to be fair.

I don't mind the delays. As long as it's not a Blade situation, hopefully they can use this to their advantage.

Agreed. I learned to be really patient during the COVID delays, so this isn't anything new. Besides, the writer's stike could be a blessing in disguise for Marvel with their current quality over quantity reevaluation. It did kind of seem like they were playing catch up post-COVID and releasing so much so quick lead to burn out for some fans. Also, with all the other films they have in development without a release date, there's now a lot of free space between FF and Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars to place them.

Never seen her work. Been meaning to watch Ozark at some point. We'll see where they go with this. Marvel is back on the right track, I think their projects are starting to show that too. Time will tell, I have faith in 'em too.

Right now, a lot of the talk I'm hearing is the concern over whether Norin Rad will be the main surfer or not. I'm actually excited at the prospect of the movie being shot entirely in IMAX. Marvel has kept mum on this project for a long time, but their main through line is that they're going very big with this one and that they intend for this to be a very big swing. I think Marvel has had mixed results when they take the biggest of swings, but you know what? The cinematic versions of Fantastic 4 have only ever been giant "misses", so I'm down to see what they have in store.
Especially because I'm getting the sense that they want to right the ship and they want this movie to be a statement, a sort of proclamation of "If you didn't think we were back, this is it, we're back". That's just what I'm getting from inhabiting the YouTube pundit space on the daily. There's so many pundits reporting on so many scoopers, and some of these pundits and scoopers have conflicting views, but... in listening to a variety of them on the daily, that's what I'm picking up from them, from these reports, and what they could all mean.
Anyway, the movie is being shot entirely in IMAX. That's exciting. Infinity War was shot that way and it really made for an amazing experience for my first viewing.
