Andor shows what will become the start of the rebel alliance. Actors like Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgaard, Genevieve O'Reilly, and Andy Serkis really make the show a treat to watch, but I genuinely feel that every actor on the series is doing a bang up job. I can think of 3 off hand who are crushing it every bit as much as those I've just mentioned. Season 1 is coming to be known by its great monologues, but it also boasts strong story telling, high quality set design, and great special effects. Every 3 episodes builds an arc that has its own payoff, and by the final episode of the season (ep.12) all the arcs converge for a rewarding payoff. The coming together of all these attributes make for a truly immersive experience. Star Wars has at times been described as "science fantasy", and this has been used at times as a compliment and a critique. However, if this is science fantasy, it's fantasy that is written with the utmost care and respect.
I tried Googling the genre of the show, but the only thing I found on that topic (after a very brief search) was Wikipedia's description. According to Wikipedia and whatever random person wrote the page, Andor is considered a sci-fi action adventure. While there is action and adventure, I'd say the show plays as more of a drama. Rest assured there, there is action throughout the series.
For me, this is easily the best Star Wars show. The show makes you care about characters on both sides of the fight, the places feel real and lived in, and it doesn't feel like it has been shot in front of a green screen. What do you all think about the show? Anyone else seen it? Would love to know your thoughts.
