The film grossed a record $32 million in advance ticket sales in North America, and claimed the midnight release record in North America with $43.5 million. With a record breaking opening day in 26 countries on July 13 2011, Deathly Hallows - Part 2 grossed $43.6 million, placing it 86% ahead of Part 1 and 49% higher than Half-Blood Prince. The film broke the record for the biggest opening day gross in history in Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Finland. In the United States, Part 2 became the biggest midnight opening of all-time with $43.5 million, breaking the previous record set in 2010 by The Twilight Saga: Eclipse ($30 million). It also broke Deathly Hallows Part 1's record for the highest midnight gross IMAX, grossing an estimated $2 million. The film has a worldwide gross of over $126,000,000. ---------------- There is also some talk that Alan Rickman should receive an Oscar nomination: newyork.ibtimes.com/articles/180872/20110715/harry-potter-and-the-deathly-hallows-part-2-alan-rickman-oscar-nomination.htm

they will burn in hell! where the fuck is my batman trailer! raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage --------------- so i thought it was pretty great, but i reread essentially part 2 and i can't help but notice things. now i'm not one to whine about changes as long as they get the basic ideas, but i still have some key problems.
1. they took out that when you touch stuff in bellatrix's vault it burns you. yeah it multiplied but it took out all the intensity that it didn't actually hurt them. and it didn't even come to like burying them alive. they got out. i just don't get why they took that aspect out.
2. the movie had plenty of jokes, but it left out some of the best of the book. like how neville talks about his Gran beating the shit out of some snatchers. one is in a mentle institution and the other wont' get out of the hospital for 6 months.
or when they are about to fight the battle and its all quiet and they start up the small talk. "so lupin how is the kid" "oh he's great with tonks at her mothers i got some pictures" *shows photos*
not to mention that part made it more clear that he did have a son. but regardless just minor nitpicks the basic idea is that there were some good jokes that were missed out on.
3. harry's death walk was interrupted! it was such a solem sad part in the book that was just all to himself. he puts on the cloak and just walks. the only time he stops is to talk to neville and give him the job to kill the snake. it was just more to itself and the fact that he doens't tell ron and hermione makes perfect sense for the character i mean he's going to let himself die and they would try to stop him obviously.
4. harry's death. it still hits home that he's dying, but they leave no moment of pause. its death and then after life. so i just wish it was a bit better paced at that point.
5. dumbledor'es little speech didn't say enough. my brother came out of the movie thinking bad about dumbledore for raising up harry to just die. it never has dumbeldore asking for forgiveness or even explaining that he guessed that harry would live. i know it would take time out of the movie in a clear tangent, but the questioning of dumbledore wasn't strong enough entirely. it was referenced which was fine, but still it left some wanting.
6. neville's stand. so in the book when harry is all "dead" and they come back to teh entrance of hogwarts neville runs out and attacks voldemort. he is put under a bounding charm and has the sorting hat placed on his head. in which then voldemort sets on fire for everyone to watch. its really tense and just has you aching to see harry just jump up and stop this. which he does to our cheer. so its just way more exciting. its all going crazy the snake tries to attack neville who then notices the sword in the hat and slices its head off as he takes it out. so epic.
in the movie neville just makes some cheesy speech and then whips out the sword. it takes like 5 min of chasing until the snake dies.
7. voldemort's death. in the book its pretty straight foward. in the movie i really don't mind the chasing and the falling just to get to the proper battlefield, but its so simple in the book. the movie does get right that harry tells voldemort that he's not the master of the elder want, but idk it just misses out entirely. they're unnambed spells meet and then it idk goes out and then voldemort just turns to ash. in the book he calls avada kadavra while harry calls out expelliarmus. it has these finality to it all and the choice of spell on harry is like this nostalgic innocence to it almost. the spells hit and the avada kadavra rebounds and kills voldemort.
i get that with the book version people may be stupid and think that he's still alive, but its a death that makes more sense.
8. finally the 19 years later. in teh book its is very natural and funny and just happy. in the movie it makes it fucking dry as hell. they don't speak at all. there is no banter. no jokes. its boring. i hate when movies do that. people arne't that quiet among family. apparently going to hogwarts the first time ins't fun. overall i just kind of feel like the first part was better. perhaps its just that i didn't reread the first part or something, but regardless it plays out much better then i felt about this one. i still give it 4/5 stars, but damn it if i have my issues.

Yeah I didn't get the Batman trailer as well. Anyway I was happy with the ending, a bit disappointed that Harry didn't use the Elder Wand to fix his original wand in the end and that Kreacher didn't appear in the final battle. My favourite scene was When Snape was killed. Snape's death was handled perfectly in my opinion. I liked the scene when Harry looked at Snape's memory as well. Alan Rickman was brilliant in this film, I don't think it was Oscar worthy but he was still very good. The King Cross scene with Dumbledore was very interesting... It was always going to be a hard scene to hand though. Poor Neville... the guy got robbed of so many heroic moments. All he got was some bullshit speech and a chance to run around Hogwarts for ages trying to kill Nagini. Despite the complaints I loved it. It's sad that the franchise is over but it's good it went out on a high.

yeah i totally agree. neville still got his achievement but it lead us on so long that it got kind of annoying. it should of just happened.
