Looking online, it's hard to tell how well this movie will do critically, or in terms of box office. Personally, I don't think it's going to do that well in the critical sense. I'm excited about seeing the turtles because I do think they'll at least act and fight the way they're supposed to. Not too confident in the quality of the overall film though. In terms of box office, we have a whole different matter. The turtles are a vastly more recognized brand. However, Marvel Studios is Pixar at this point. They don't need to use familiar characters or sequels to get the general audience in the theater. Since they share the same demographic, one or both will be hurting the other.

Critically, the movie is screwed in my opinion. Financially, I think it will probably make between $400m and $500m. ----------------------------------------- Paramount have pulled this poster:

Maybe so, but apparently it has enough brand power to take the number one spot this weekend. We won't know yet, since it's still early in the day. www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=105708I'm interested in seeing it. This is one movie that rottentomatoes won't help me with. Now, if one of you were to see it and hate it, or another friend who is also into movies saw it and didn't like it, I'd probably consider skipping it. On another note, I'm going to see Guardians for my third and final time some time this evening maybe.

I get what you mean, sometimes you guys' (or my "real life" friends') feedback affects my decisions much more than that of professional critics since I know your tastes, that is where we agree and where we differ.

Pretty spot on. I would not say this is a kids movie though when you have Mikey saying he has a boner for April. That's on par with that little robot humping Fox's leg in Transformers 2. I'll take the Ninja Rap anyday.
Out of morbid curiosity, I did rent this over the weekend, and I'll just say $1.50 is definitely the only thing worth paying for this shit. It's as bad as I expected. Maybe worse. Megan Fox is terrible. I mean, in the movie, her character wants to be taken seriously, but even I have a hard time believing her because I can't take the actress seriously. Hell, I don't even think she took this role seriously! And poor Whoopi Goldberg. It seemed like she had a hard time believing this is what her career's been reduced to. As for the Turtles, there's absolutely no point to them being ninjas. They're huge, super strong, and bullet proof. They're practically Hulks with shells. And they're usually fighting guys with guns. Lastly, the villains' plot is almost a rip off of Amazing Spider-Man.
So if you're even slightly curious about seeing this, DON'T DO IT! FOR LOVE OF GOD SAVE YOURSELF FROM THIS AWFULNESS!
I think this is a good summation of the movie though:
