(Lynch is the dude with the glasses)
Just got this on PS3 and I freakin' love it! It's gotten really horrible reviews for the most part but I think it's extremely underrated so here's my review: (If you don't wanna read all of it just scroll down to the overview )
Summary
Synopsis from website:
"Play as two of gaming's most disturbing and realistic criminals; Lynch - an impulsive, reckless self-medicated psychopath, and Kane - a tactical and calculating ex-mercenary.
Experience their desperate and frantic fight to escape through the back streets and rooftops of Shenghai's gritty underworld. They can trust no one, not even each other, as cracks begin to appear in Lynch's sanity Kane's stability. It's kill or be killed."
(You mainly play as Lynch)
So, a lot of people gave this game bad reviews basically because of how unique it is. It's in third person and the visual style is like someone is following you with a camcorder, so it's kinda shaky and really looks weird sometimes. It's also is very realistic. I admit it's hard to get used to but it doesn't take too long and definitely not enough to make it horrible.
The Good
The story and the way it is told is amazing and unlike anything I've ever seen before. The voice acting and theatrics are - dare I say it - up there with Uncharted. It's extremely intense (especially once you get used to the camcorder view) and the action is just top notch. Lynch is hilarious (even though he's serious) he's a real nutjob and likes to cuss A LOT so it's quite funny. Whoever voices him really captures his craziness and ever changing emotions. Kane is great as well but you hear more out of Lynch.
The Ai is actually pretty good too. Kane will actually kill people instead of standing there like an idiot and shooting at nothing
Finally, the Arcade and Multiplayer modes make for lots of replay value and are just really fun.
Something very interesting though... the nudity and extremely gory injuries, are pixelated. Idk if they had to censor it or if it was just a part of the camera gimmick, idk but how dark and violent this game is (even with that censorship) it really surprised me.
The Bad
The only bad things I can think of are the fact that the style is hard to get used to, the Multiplayer can be kinda glitchy and the story is kinda short. The ending kinda sucks though. That's about it and they are, in my opinion, no where near enough to overpower the bad.
Overview
Good:
Story

Bad:
Hard to get used to
Kinda short
Bad ending
Verdict
This is unlike anything I've ever seen and may just earn the title of most underrated game ever. Dog Days, you earn a
8/10
from me. Yes it's different, yes it's hard to get used to and it may be short but it's acting, action, intesity and gritty, mature story, just blow me away. I suggest it but...
Other things you should know:
(I am extremely surprised this game has not come with controversy.)
Very mature story
Extremely disturbing at some points
Very, very intense
A LOT of language
Extremely violent
I wouldn't tell you that if I didn't think it was a little over the top
