1. Reviews try to tell me what I should believe.
Complete bull shit. I'll let you in on a little secret. Reviews are OPINIONS. You do not have to agree with them. That is not there purpose. Reviews give you an idea of what you can expect from a movie and whether you should see it or not.
Again reviews are not forcing you to think in any specific way. Stop being paranoid and just take their opinion under consideration. Getting mad at reviews is a waste of time. They are there to help you and maybe offer a different perspective on a film.
------------------------
2. RT is an unreliable review.
RT is only unreliable if you read it as a movie score like a star rating. The RT score is not a review it's a proportion of the amount of good reviews a movie has. It is not telling you whether a movie is good or not. Only giving you the facts of how many reviews liked the movie. It's not telling you how much they liked it or how much they disliked it.
RT gives you a very quantitative reason to see or not see a movie. when an RT score is 55% all it means is that only 55% of reviewers liked this film.
but with the right perspective you can read RT as not only a review but a reliable one.
see it this way on my RT scale.
RED- Fresh ------- Green- Rotten
95-100% most likely an animated movie. this high rating does not mean its the greatest movie ever. it only means there is little to not like about this movie.
if its not animated then its probably something special
80-94% most of the great blockbuster range. good solid movies. you'll probably like this movie and like it alot.
60-79% this is pretty much the generally positive review area. will you like it? odds are with you, but its no guarantee.
45-59% despite mixed reviews you will probably like this movie. Its a flip of a coin here. either like it or you don't.
23-44% this is by all means a bad movie. if its an action movie the action will still be fun.
0-22% there is no way around this. this movie is shit. action movie or not. no redeemable qualities what so ever.
The middle yellow color represents the area of the scale that viewers conflict with reviewers. some of those movies are supposed to be rotten movies, but audiences still enjoy.
Basically don't look at Rotten ratings with literal eyes. Just because its rotten doesn't mean you won't like it or that you shouldn't.
This is my main point here. No one is telling you what you should like. so you shouldn't act like they are.

3. Movie Awards are Fixed because the movie i like never wins anything.
Movie Award shows are not sports events. Awards are there for 2 reasons. Giving credit to the best movies of the year, and giving publicity to great, but unseen movies.
If there are movies that showcase amazing acting or story then how can that not be awarded? this is a business, but also an art. Again this is opinion. Just because they didn't give it to the person who you thought deserved it doesn't mean the person you wanted is all of a sudden not good.
instead of acting like a sore loser how about watching the film that had the winning actor or actress and judge for yourself.
Many of these winning movies aren't big blockbusters or widely seen. Doesn't mean the award shows hate blockbusters. it just means they want to show appreciation to films that other wise wouldn't get it on a wide basis.
Once again this isn't a sports game. The oscar winners aren't the patriots or the yankees. You shouldn't root against them. Suck it up and maybe watch those movies and then judge if they deserved it or not.
the Oscars aren't' going to determine what movies will be remembered forever. They are awarding the best movies of that year. showing appreciation for their accomplishments.
If the oscars or other award shows did award the movies that are the most popular then awards would lose all credibility because it'd be a popularity contest.
Award shows are far from perfect. They make some pretty bad calls over the years, and have been very stubborn in accepting sci fi as an award worthy genre. But doesn't that make the awards all that more special when a sci fi film eventually does win best picture?
-----------------
My three points fallow a single one. These voices in movie authority are not there to attack your opinion. They are there to help you.
So next time you get a review put it under consideration instead of getting mad at the reviewer for having a different opinion.
Next time you read the RT score see it in a different perspective.
And maybe this movie season you should pay attention to the Oscar winners and instead of hating them as overrated how about putting them on your list of movies to see.
Movie reviews and awards are tools for us as viewers to have the best movie experiences we can. Its time we use them.
