Has anyone seen the 15 seconds of Deadpool footage? It's good. Respect for Fox this year, they came packing with a solid slate.

This could've been a game changer had it come out right after Zombieland, before Kick Ass. As for now, it still looks creative and funny. About damn time.

Fox screened Deadpool in full for very select audiences in NY and LA. While we know not to put too much stock in positive Twitter reactions, it is nice to see that virtually everyone who posted was ecstatic. Not a bad sign. collider.com/deadpool-movie-reviews/Random side note, I just re-watched Zombieland. Loved it, six years later and it's still super funny and fresh. Six years isn't that long, I know, but it's nothing to sneeze at either. The movie definitely has me excited for Deadpool, since its writers wrote Deadpool.

Back in August I made a comment about how this could've been a game changer had it come out before Kick Ass. Now, I'm reading a lot of reviews at Rotten Tomatoes and that's exactly what many people are calling it. Still, the movie does have its fair share of detractors. The people at Collider effin love the movie. I'll be checking it out on Saturday evening and I can hardly wait the extra 48 hours.
Gotta say though, there are a few who have put Kick Ass down in favor of this. No matter how good Deadpool may be, Kick Ass came out at a time when no other movie had spoofed the genre while also praising it (Batman: The Movie doesn't count, since the superhero movies didn't constitute a genre at that time). Kick Ass was before its time, even if it played it very close to the source. Being first doesn't make a movie good, but to that end I think Matthew Vaughn did one hell of a job directing it, and there were definitely surprises along the way in terms of plot. For me, the movie still holds up on repeat viewings. I certainly hope people don't make the mistake of criticizing it in order to sing Deadpool's praises. Let Deadpool be praised for its own merits, of which I'm sure it has many. How else can I say this? Erhmmm... "With Great Power Comes Great Irresponsibility" is a great tag line, and it was used well in 2010 too. Those who don't like Kick Ass for its own merits/never liked it to begin with are of course welcome to continue feeling the way they do.

Just back from seeing it. I'm still processing how awesome it was.
And excellent, your thoughts did come to mind when I was watching it. I wasn't really judging it compared to Kick-Ass, but I think the thing is that both movies came out in different times. Kick-Ass came out when the MCU was still in its infant stage. With Deadpool, we now have three main comic based film universes, and Deadpool was a part of that with references to other X-Men movies rather than standing alone. Another thing is Deadpool actually features superpowers unlike Kick-Ass. I'm not knocking it because I enjoyed both movies but they're very different and it would be unfair to compare them fully.

Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. My initial reaction was the enjoyment of seeing it, after over 5 years + of waiting. Following immediately after I realized that my expectations had been too high (thanks John Campea). Today however, I can't stop thinking about it and how much I want to see it again. All in all, I really enjoyed this movie. It's among my top 2 favorite X-Men films. As good as DOFP is, this movie is the first X-Men film in years feels like a modern superhero movie. The action was wonderful, the characters were accurate, and I even liked the romance part of it. Bring on the sequel!
