Saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it. My initial reaction was the enjoyment of seeing it, after over 5 years + of waiting. Following immediately after I realized that my expectations had been too high (thanks John Campea). Today however, I can't stop thinking about it and how much I want to see it again. All in all, I really enjoyed this movie. It's among my top 2 favorite X-Men films. As good as DOFP is, this movie is the first X-Men film in years feels like a modern superhero movie. The action was wonderful, the characters were accurate, and I even liked the romance part of it. Bring on the sequel! I would say that DOFP got the ball rolling though, cause I felt it was the first time the series was embracing its comic book roots like the Avengers. Deadpool took it further character wise. And when we get to Apocalypse, I'm sure it'll be the X-Men film we've been waiting years for.

Yo, guys. I'm really happy for you. I'mma let you finish, but First Class was one of the best superhero films of all time!

It was the Batman Begins of X-Men films for sure. What's crazy is that these X-Men films are getting the same ratings or higher than Marvel Studios' standalone properties that come out the same year. First class landed 87% at rotten tomatoes while both Cap and Thor were in the 70's. When Winter Soldier came out, it hit a solid 89% only to have DOFP follow it up with 91%. While it was matched by Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men was the 2nd highest grossing superhero movie that year, ahead of Spider-man (granted, the lowest grossing Spider-man film to date) and Winter Soldier. I think this year Fox is heading for a repeat. Civil War looks incredible, and while it'll have Black Panther and Spider-man, I don't see any movie going for broke as much as Singer's mutant movie. FoXMen or not, color me interested.

I definitely think X-Men movies have proven way more interesting than anything MCU has given us in the past few years.
Honestly, First Class is one of if not my favourite superhero movie. I feel it's one film that really captures what X-Men is (are?) are all about. It fully fleshes out the struggles that come with being different and the dilemmas one has to face in such a situation. It's not without its flaws - for instance, I feel there are too many pointless characters though a large number gives a better feeling of scope - but I believe First Class's core strength is that each central character brings an idea to the table that seems very reasonable. There are many ways to react to being different, and that central theme is explored in such a way that it can easily be extrapolated to the real world - whether you treat it as a parallel to racism or simply personal discrimination. In showing that Americans and Russians are more alike than they are different, Xavier's philosophy seems to prevail in the end, but that does not discredit the opposing view. On the contrary, it flips the meta and places the villains as the underdogs, which makes them more relatable than ever. And the best thing about it all is that it's effortless! The movie's a breeze: it's fun, it's light, and yet it makes us think about deep topics without us even realizing. In my opinion, it's a masterpiece.
Now don't get me wrong, Days of Future Past keeps some of the qualities from First Class, and it does very many things better, but it explores new themes that are typical to many a superhero film. It's solid and it's beautiful, but in my view, it's no where near the quality of First Class.
Looking forward, I am freaking hyped! Can't wait till Apocalypse comes out!

collider.com/deadpool-2-director-movie-talk/"Deadline reports that after a series of creative differences between Deadpool director Tim Miller and star Ryan Reynolds, Miller has exited Deadpool 2. Studio insiders for the outlet say the exit was over mutual creative differences and ended amicably. However, according to The Wrap, a casting issue came to a head over the possible booking of Kyle Chandler as Cable, with Miller wanting the Bloodline actor and Ryan Reynolds opting for someone else. The movie is still set for an unknown 2018 release." Following the above article, I stumbled upon this. What do you guys think? Could you see Quentin Tarintino doing Deadpool 2? How awesome would that be?! screenrant.com/deadpool-2-quentin-tarantino-fan-petition/

I'd kinda like Ryan to star and direct.

Ryan definitely understands the character and just like I can't see anyone besides Hugh Jackman being Wolverine, I can't see anyone besides Ryan being Deadpool. I would be fine with him directing. I wonder who he wanted for Cable? It said in the article that was one of the reasons for the previous director leaving was differences in casting choices.

The people at Collider movie talk threw a few interesting picks out there. Names of note include Kevin Smith, Sam Raimi, and and my top choices: Matthew Vaughn or Edgar Wright. I'd be interested to see Vaughn come back for anything X-Men, but of all potential Marvel projects I think Deadpool would suit him best.
They made the case that Quentin Tarantino only does Quentin Tarantino, so Deadpool probably isn't something that would interest him from a creative standpoint. That's not to say he didn't enjoy the first one (I honestly don't know if he's even commented on it), but rather that as a creator he'd want full creative control like he has on his other projects. That probably wouldn't gel with Reynolds, who's at the center of the split with the original director to begin with.

That video was really really cool. What's Quentin Tarantino up to these days? I remember in that article that you posted, the people who reviewed the script seemed to feel that Tarantino would be the dream director for this project. I found this on the first page of this thread. So apparently the Tarantino idea has been around since the first Deadpool was ever even completely green lit.

collider.com/deadpool-2-filming-january/#imagesAccording to Collider and multiple other sources, Deadpool 2 will NOT be filming in January. The purported January film start date was actually originally slated for March, but now with the original director gone, this has likely been pushed back even further. Who knows, this could be a good thing. I think it would perform better at the box office if it came out in summer of 2018. Deadpool fan are pretty loyal and I would say he could win the box office over Justice League among other things. That's not to say he won't have competition with Infinity War, but seeing as a lot of Marvel fans will attend both movies, I see it as a win win.

I looked him up on IMDB and it says he wrote 5 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 5 episodes of Alias, 9 episodes of Lost, and the scripts to the movies Cloverfield, World War Z, The Cabin in the Woods, and The Martian. He's got some pretty good credentials, but he seems like more of a serious writer than a comedic one. Maybe he's only a co-writer and he's there to bring a balance between the seriousness and the humor? I'm assuming he will be co-writing with Reynolds.

Well, Buffy was pretty funny, as was Cabin in the Woods and The Martian. The Martian really shouldn't have been nominated for best comedy at the Golden Globes the way it was, but there was humor in it. He also helped on Angel, which had a similar feel as Buffy.

I'd like it if Marvel and Fox worked on a mature animated series and put it on FX or FXX. It could be like Archer.
