The Walking Dead is a new show on AMC which just premiered tonight or well last night fittingly being Halloween for a show like this. The show is based on the comic of the same name: Its about a deputy Sheriff who after being wounded in a gun fight wakes up in the hospital finding a world destroyed by the living dead. now i know this isn't anything new. the hospital thing has even been done before, but trust me this show is EXCELLENT. its smartly directed, very intense, and the make up is fantastic. what really makes this show stand up from the rest of the zombie genre is probably because its most intense part is due to not a physical drama but an emotional one. and if emotion isn't your thing (which leads me to believe you are a cold heartless zombie) then do not fear this premiere is maybe not packed but well paced with zombie action. especially the climax of the episode which really brought out the scope of this zombie apocalypse. with a strong lead character and supporting character paired with tensely paced action for this premiere episode leads me to believe this will be a show worth watching for a long time. the show is on AMC Sundays 10/9cthis season is only set for 6 episodes which is crazy, but with a comic series backing it up with 13 volumes of comics i can see this being extended a bit. --------------------------One more thing! This is a late night show on a Sunday. Viewers discretion is much advised. I've personally never payed much attention to language so i have no idea if there was strong language in this show, but.... some of these zombies and of the dead are highly grotesque with bodies nearly stripped of all flesh of their bones leaving a bloody pale skinned mess. organs dripped about. not to mention the many many many many many head shots. which may or may not be a plus for you. so yeah, not for the likes of the squeamish.

New Episode tomorrow at 10/9c
this is it. the making or breaking of the series. a great first episode is like a great opening scene it both pulls you in and sets the standard.
imo Watchmen had it and so did Wolverine. While i enjoyed Watchmen(some aspects were great) others could have been better. and we all know what happened to Wolverine as the movie went on.
so this is where the show brings in the rest of the cast really. if they are annoying or flat we wont' care about them and it'd just be a joke.
so i'm cautiously excited for this week's episode.

So Episode 2 came out last Sunday.
It was pretty good 8/10
it didn't have that emotional teather the first episode as and was more fast paced action then its premiere.
entertaining nonetheless. the main focus of this episode is about Rick (main character) is rescued by a group of scavengers.
since he alerted the hoard they are trapped in this small store.
the inner group has a conflict with this one dude who is all racist and trigger happy. i didn't see a problem with that conflict but i agree with IGN that it is strange why they would let this guy in on the group. he could have been paced out a little longer, but even still this is post apocalypse zombie war.
racism is the last thing that needs to be going around. i mean why does it even matter?
anyways the highlight of the episode and the most intense moment was Rick and the most likable of the group Glen escaping for help.
they do this by making themselves smell like the dead meaning they have to coat themselves with dead body goo.
it was gross and ingenious
seem them slowly move to the gate out of town was well paced.
of course things to to hell when it begins to rain. they barely make it out and take some cars to help the rest.
rick takes a van
glenn takes a camero
i wish there was some zombie run over moments like in i am legend, but no luck.
this is a pretty contrasted episode from the first one. Good but a little hallow.

EPISODE 3
back at camp things heat up. Rick's old cop buddy has made himself sort of judge and jury of camp. he can both be comforting with people or forceful. being angry that Rick's wife doesn't want to be with him anymore because of his lies. Well this pent up anger lead him to beat the shit out of the wife beater of a husband.
the episodes ends on an EXCELLENT note. just with Daryl screen NOO! over and over again. while slowly panning down a to empty bloody handcuffs with a severed hand next to it.
i'd give it an 8.5/10
just for that ending it was excellent.
----------- EPISODE 4
this episode had emotion and action. i'd rather not give to much away. all i can say there is a full on zombie fight in this episode and its awesome.
althought i'm beginning to question how good of a marksmen these guys are. all they get are headshots it seams and the head is the hardest place to hit.
minor complaint.
9/10

maybe if you listened you'd know that i don't hate horror. i just feel that 99% of it is crap because its an easy sell. don't deny it. most horror movies aren't scary and suck ass.
walking dead is very well written and actually creepy.

Yeah. I get what your saying. There's about 15 different horror series/franchises i like. That's not much considering somewhere around 1,000,000 horror film have probably been made.

I started watching "The Walking Dead" last year. The first six episodes kick ass, they're very entertaining. I felt sympathy for those guys and their plight. Especially the black man with his young son who stared achingly at his wife, zombified and roaming the streets. It took a long time, but Netflix finally put season 2 up. My wife and I are on Episode 9 of Season 2, a.k.a. "Triggerfinger". In my opinion, the show keeps getting better. Some complained that there was a lull at the beginning of season 2, but I like slow buildups that reward you for sticking around. I certainly feel that this is what the show has managed to do. The best episode so far, in my opinion, was the episode in which Shane insights panic amongst the group and lets the walkers out of the barn, forcing the everyone to take action to dispose of the zombie threat. Then, at the last moment the little girl who they've been looking for comes out, forcing Rick to step up and put herher down.
I'm going to give my opinion on a few of these characters, but I won't cover all of them because my opinion goes with the grain. Characters like Rick, Glen, Shane, etc. are successful at evoking pathos or resentment, so I won't talk about them. Andrea- She's in a gray area for me, but she's done some pretty anger worthy things in her time. I wish she would snap out of it, and stop idolizing Shane. Carol- I like her. She's the only female character who has been around for all of seasons 1 and 2 (at least, the part that I've seen so far) that I haven't wanted to scream at. She's a tough lady and she's held onto her humanity in spite of all of the horror. Lori- I want to like her, but she's kinda wishy washy. We'll see where her character goes. Hershel- This guy is one of my top two characters. He's kind of an ass for a few episodes, but his doctoring skills, mixed in with his ability to be a hardass when necessary, and his eventual return to reality make him one of my favorite characters. Dale- The moral compass of the show, sometimes he's so morally upright that I think it's going to get him killed. Be that as it may, he's brave and very smart, not afraid to do the right thing, even in life threatening situations. Good character, also my favorite. Daryl- Awesome character. I hope he comes around. Hell, he may even have a romantic thing brewing with some other character whom I will not mention. That'd be pretty neat. If someone's going to take Shane out, I figure its either gonna be Daryl or Rick.

Working my way through the show here, I think I have two left. So, Dale died. Needless to say, I'm very sad about this, but I'm not disappointed in the show. It's brilliant. It has already become one of my favorite shows ever. I'll try not to clutter this space up any more until I finish the season.

Finished the finale. So far, the first two seasons were fantastic. Rick is a badass, and Hershel is now my new favorite character. He just owns everything. The new season should be fantastic. As the group moved from their location in season 2, I wondered where they would end up next. I found myself thinking of places on the high ground, like say on a mountain top. I figured they could make a clearing large enough at the top to see what was coming from a distance, but they'd still have an escape route. Anywho, it's now obvious that they'll be staying in a prison , at least, for a short period of time. When you think about it, it's perfect. Plenty of perimeter to escape through but still secure, with places to cook, sleep, and bathe. Count me in for season 3.

I'll continue my one man crusade on this thread. I'm still enjoying the heck out of this show. It's incredible how high the viewership is, especially considering it's a cable network show. So, I'm just going to come right out and say it. Merle, Milton and Andrea died in the last two episodes. While I'll mourn the loss of Andrea, especially considering she survived much longer in the comic, I find myself surprised at how much impact Merle's death had on me. Here was a character that was painted as the villain from day 1. He was a biggot, a misogynist, and an all around brute, but the guy was just so damn entertaining. He feigned stupidity, but it was clear that there was a lot going on under the hood of that man's skull cap. Daryl's reaction upon finding his zombified brother didn't help. I've found myself somewhat depressed over it all. Hell of a show. Admittedly, I've yet to get into Dr. Who, Game of Thrones, or Fringe or Breaking Bad, but this show easily lands in my top 3 of all time. Shows like this continue to renovate the type of quality we can expect from television, and honestly, I'm happy for the entertainment industry on the small screen.

the ratings are just mind blowing to me. i felt like one of the few people watching the show in the first and 2nd season and then bam such an enormous fan base that i don't think tv has seen in a long time.

My wife and I are now current on the show. We were caught up through season 3, but missed the first half of season 4 due to work and other such concerns. So, about the show... wow. Just wow. It continues to deliver, and Kirkman continues to prove that he'll kill off just about anyone. Hershell is my favorite character, and I'm extremely disappointed that he died. Damn the governor, that son of a bitch! The governor is one hell of a villain, and it's as exciting as ever to see him back up to his old ways again. I'm very curious to see where the show takes us for the rest of the season. Looking forward to February.

Season 5 has been up on Netflix for a couple weeks as of this posting. My wife and I are on episode 4 now. We regret falling over a season behind, and heard that season 6 is pretty good so far. Season 5 started off with a bang. The 4th season was my least favorite tbh, so the break sort of warmed us up to the show again.
