One of my paper assignments in my Lit class this semester involves comparing and contrasting two different fantasies. My teacher said doing it with DC and Marvel would work. I got some ideas on what I could do, but I'm open to any suggestions from anyone about what I could talk about to compare and contrast the two. Anything could be welcome, but focus on the comic books.
Thanks in advance.

you have the more grounded mythos of marvel. it may have its cosmic stories they aren't as much of a focus like with DC and the mutliverse and green lantern.
you have marvel breaking the mold by including real cities and relatable character situations.
while DC has its mythical cities with characters committing great feats. like superman punching away planets. and his almost unrealistic moral compass.

Good points.
Should I mention how DC's history changes with continuity changing events while Marvel tends to keep things straight forward? Also, maybe how DC has a better focus of a multiverse with 52 main universes?

The heroes themselves are worth contrasting. As well as how they got their powers. A lot of marvel heroes got their powers because of science and stuff. There's exceptions though.

for the most part DC heroes are bestowed powers, create their "powers", or are born with them. besides flash there really aren't many accidents=powers like with marvel.

Found this thread while looking for the news thread. I just thought I'd mention I got an A on this paper. Here's a few of the points I remember talking about: -Characters' relatablitly to readers and how they get their powers -Multiverses -Similarity in stories (Luthor becoming president and Osborn running SHIELD, Steve Rogers and Bruce Wayne's deaths, Blackest Night and Necrosha as examples)
