Apparently there's going to be a Black Panther film under way by Marvel Studios. I believe it's going to be one of their live action projects (as that's all they've done so far) and not an animated feature. The fictional Wakanda is famous in the Marvel Universe for its immense supply of Vibranium for those who don't know. I see a lot of potential for a movie like this, given the rich political issues surrounding resource rich african countries. The writer they hired did some non fiction documentaries for HBO and stuff, according to hype.

Word is that Creed's director is in talks to helm BP. I'm certainly down with that. The fights in Creed looked really good, and the overall direction was fantastic. He took a very basic story and injected it with something fierce. There was a serious character driven focus to it, and he was able to evoke Stallone's strongest performance in a long time. I honestly can't think of the last time Stallone was as good as he is in Creed. Michael B. Jordan is a better actor I think, but Stallone was the best part of it for me. That's nothing against Jordan either. I mean, how do you out act Stallone in a Rocky movie? So much of Stallone is Rocky.
Here's my point though: this guy is a good director, and if he's the right fit for the Marvel movie machine then we're in for something special.

I know little to nothing about Black Panther, so watching his movie will be an awesome learning experience with me. I was the same way with Thor before I seen his debut stand alone film.

I love it! I wasn't thrilled with the poster, but this teaser looks awesome. The tone, the colors, the action, todo. This is in line with what I said in the Guardians thread. Marvel is making it harder and harder to compare their movies to each other. This doesn't feel like anything they've ever done before. I was looking forward to Ragnarok being that weird, other worldly kind of film, but who'd of thought that an earth based movie would give me that feeling in a stronger way? I don't know how weird they're going to get with this stuff. There's a spiritual aspect to the lore that's pretty cool. Some are comparing it to the way there are force ghosts in Star Wars. I've read a little Black Panther material from Ta-Nehisi Coates where that aspect was touched on, but I still don't know too much about it. We'll see what they do.

Black Panther trailer #2 They managed to do it again. Honestly, I think I'm good. I'm not one of those people who gets bothered by the trailers giving too much away. If the movie is entertaining, I'll enjoy it regardless. That said, I think they've shown plenty of material with the teaser and now this. I'm good to go. The action looks spectacular, definitely different the Marvel's recent fare, the colors look great, and every time Chadwick Boseman talks with that accent it sounds amazing. I think this could turn out to be a new favorite for me, and possibly a new #1 from Marvel in my personal rankings. We'll see. The new poster looks much better than the old one too, even if it uses that template that most other movies use. The trim sort of makes the poster for me. Maybe someone can post it? One last thing: I mentioned the spiritual aspect of the Black Panther lore earlier. There's a shot in there where T'Challa is approaching these panthers in a tree with a black and purple lit sky. It looks like something out of Life of Pi, which you all may know has some very big spiritual implications (I never read the book, but the info is out there). So, there's that.

So, the 3rd trailer for Black Panther is supposed to come out tomorrow. Anyone have anything they'd like to see in it? At this point I just want to see the movie. I'll watch the trailer because I don't really care about spoilers too much. If they execute the film well, I'll be entertained, but I'm just saying I don't need another trailer. Not a complaint or anything, bring on the trailer. Sure; why not?

I don't care too much about spoilers for Black Panther either, but I'm skipping the trailer in case it showcases some cool action set piece. I think it'd be nice to see those for the first time on the big screen.

Makes sense, best to avoid it. I did watch it and I felt they did a good job of making it feel different without actually showing anything new. It was more like different angles of the same scenes we've already seen. Usually when I feel this way I read publications that decry the marketing team for "[spoiling] the entire movie", so I don't know how trustworthy I am on this, lol. That said, this time a lot of YouTube film industry pundits seemed to hold the same perspective though.
