It's definitely my favourite RPG. I prefer to play as Femshep than maleshep.

I prefer male shepard, but the great thing about the game is that everyone plays it the way they want to. i'm currently on my third playthrough, on insanity. I'm two trophies away from getting the platinum trophy for this one

The story is great, the action is fantastic, and although the RPG elements aren't as deep as you'd expect, they do still affect the gameplay and the story. Both Shepards can have relationships with crew members (alien or human). In the final mission when you attack the Collector homeworld, Shepard has to make life and death decisions which may cost your crew members their lives.
If you have a PS3, there is a interactive comic to fill you in on what happened in the first game because Microsoft owns the rights to it (thought I have to admit, I never did it).
The choices you made in the first two games will effect what happens in the final game.

It's original, I should say. That's what I think makes it a good game

I'd say the level of interaction is what makes it great. Other games have the choice system where it doesn't really feel like it matters what decision you make. In mass effect, the whole story spans (well, will span) three games, and what choices you make actually affect the story. I feel that the player becomes much more immersed in the game, because it's such a large story, and because of the level of interaction, the player feels more like they are involved in the story. It doesn't feel as if you are playing as commander shepard, you are commander shepard. Also, I like the characters a lot (especially Garrus and Tali), and I think the humor in the game is pretty funny. Plus, the gameplay itself is fun (which is an important factor in any video game.) Honestly, the series has become one of my favorites after just playing one game, and Mass effect 3 is my most anticipated game right now

Which is totally fine of course. Personally, I don't care much for FPS games like call of duty. Different strokes for different folks

That's true, I used to like COD a lot, but it's gotten really repetitive over time for me. Which is why i love Fallout games

just because i'm not interested in Mass Effect doesn't mean i'm a COD nut.
if anything i actually prefer Treyarch to Infinity Ward. although Spec Ops is a pretty great feature, most people can agree to that.
