Took my fiance to see the latest Twilight: Breaking Dawn. Dun, dun, daaaahhhh!!!!!! Just kidding, this isn't much of a surprise coming from me. Anyway, I give it a solid 7.5 out of 10. Not only is it the franchises best (by a mile), it's actually a decent movie period. IMHO, Bill Condon was able to elevate the source material, and the actors really did do a fine job with their characters. Bella has never been so sincere, she wasn't whiny at all (I don't know what movie people were watching, but I've read a lot of comments elsewhere saying the opposite). Kristin Stewart was a lot more likeable this time around I guess. Edward was actually happy for a change, Pattinson's alright. Taylor Lautner demonstrated his best acting ever, which isn't saying much, but if you compare his performance in this one to the last two films, the improvement is much appreciated. Condon really did a great job at bringing the best performances out of everyone.
On top of that, the movie continued the tradition of besting the prior installments special effects (at this point they're actually really good), the music was very well suited for the film, and it was pretty good music, the dialogue was much improved, and the overall narrative flow of the film in general. Oh, and the locations. The locations worked better in this film than ever before. Roger Ebert pointed out that the flower covered fields Bella and Edward lie in to stare at the clouds (in earlier installments) look like they were planted 20 minutes before filming started. I agreed with him on New Moon and Eclipse, but Condon got past that problem.
To sum it all up, I'd like to draw upon a funny expression a friend of mine said. She said that hating someone makes it so much easier to hate on everything they do. i.e. If Jim hated Susan, then Jim'd say "Look at this bitch, eating those potato chips like she owns the place. Get the fuck outta here Susan..." and not feel like he was being ridiculous. Obviously, it's a silly example but it kind of makes sense. I see that with the Twilight stuff. Pattinson and Stewart have been branded horrible actors by so many people simply because of all the Twilight hate. In reality, they've both found some degree of success for their work in other films. And again, their work in the Twilight series has improved exponentially. But they can't get any love because they're "eating fucking crackers like they own the place." lol.....

I retract part of that last statement. I was looking at Rotten tomatoes, and I've found that all three prior Twilight films have ranked higher than the 4th movie. I think that that's utter b.s. Any fool can see that these movies have problems, but to think that this fourth one, which has massively improved upon the flaws of its predecessors, is the worse of the series? That's just plain ridiculous.
I'm not surprised that people don't like this movie, but I am surprised that the critical community is also being affected by the extreme dislike of Twilight. The consensus seems to be that this movie is : Slow, joyless, and loaded with unintentionally humorous moments..."
It is slow, but the characters seem happy for a change. When they're not happy, they're determined but not whiny. And for the most part, this movie was bursting with intentional humor. There was one part that was unintentionally bad, and it stands out, but everything else was pretty self-aware. This makes me think of Thor, because Thor was very self aware in the way that it poked fun at itself, but a lot of critics accused it of being unintentionally funny as well.

Is it true that they actually showed Bella's baby being born?

They don't show the baby crowning or anything like that. But the birthing definately has a scene to itself. It's surprisingly graphic, but in the way that 127 Hours (with James Franco) was graphic. You don't actually see him break his bone, but you see enough so that when the camera pans away and you hear the snap, you've had enough.
