Anyone seen this? I don't think we have a proper category for the show, but whatever. I don't watch television much, so I can't say that I'm an expert on quality television. But I do watch a lot of movies, and I know the difference between a good script, story, and visual effects, and poor quality stuff for all that I just mentioned.
Terra Nova succeeds at being interesting and having decent script work. Some of it is kind of juvenile, the teen romance and family drama aspects are a little amateur, but they aren't bad either. The most impressive thing about this show is its scale and visual effects though. I've never seen anything like this on television, and I doubt that it's because of my lack of television viewing. This stuff was not possible on a television budget a few years ago. I'm totally floored by the environments and the props.
I didn't watch the entire two hour premiere, but based off of what I read, the half hour I did watch (smack in the middle of the premiere) was in line with the rest of it. Hopefully the show continues to deliver. It's not perfect, but it's definately big in a way that's worth following for a little while.
