Okay, so I'm current on everything. I like the story. I like how good they are at catching the reader up. I haven't kept up with anything, and I felt comfortable just jumping in. It was cool how they referenced the Phoenix and Jean Grey as though it was a somewhat recent event. I suppose it is in comic book time, just as the death of Gwen Stacy is probably less than a 10 year old memory for Spidey (in ASM), but still. I thought it was neat. The writing is fun, the story is fun, I enjoyed it.
Would I recommend it to anyone? No, my recommendation on stuff like this isn't to be trusted. You guys are far more read up than I am. All I'm saying is that it's written pretty well, and even if it is a cash grab, it's good entertainment.

Issue 9 preview: www.newsarama.com/php/multimedia/album.php?aid=47043I've been looking forward to this issue. Not only is Spidey my favorite Marvel character, but imo, he's the most human of the Avengers and it'll be interesting to see how he'll stand up to the X-Men.

In regards to issue 10 and the remainder of the series... I think Cyclops is gonna try to kill Emma so he can get total control of the Phoenix power.
As much as I'd like Cyclops to die in this, the Marvel NOW! stuff makes me think he'll survive. Now I'm thinking it'll be Emma who dies. I think that could work though; having Cyclops lose two women he loved to the Phoenix could give him the push to become a full-on villain.

It looks like Jean, but wouldn't that be too obvious? It's probably Hope.

Avengers and X-Men unite in the penultimate chapter: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=preview&id=13519Also worth noting is the preview for Uncanny X-Men #18 in another conversation between Scott and Magneto: I think he's using the Charlie Sheen definition.

So before I get on to new business, I guess I should give my thoughts on how AvX ended up. I liked it and brought about some interesting changes to Marvel U with the regenesis of mutants across the globe. I'll admit that Cyclops was right about the Phoenix on that front, but he totally went about it the wrong way. Hell, he killed the Professor! People could say it wasn't him in control, but he was the one who sought out the Phoenix in the first place. Besides that, the Phoenix just gave him a push to do what he wanted to do deep down, just like it did when Namor attacked Wakanda. Scott could have at least shown some remorse instead of being "Ha ha I won." He's still been a dick since then too. Point is, I enjoyed AvX for the most part. Now then, Marvel is still riding the coattails of the event with a "What If?" miniseries running through July: www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=44440Could be interesting, especially if the Avengers got the Phoenix instead.
