To celebrate the Avengers, I'll be getting the first volume of the Justice League Whenever I get it I'll probably write a review and most likely end up delving into my own fan fic desires of a potential movie.

Makes sense. Reading the series issue by issue, I felt a little disappointed by how the first arc ended. Just letting you know.

well i know Darkseid made his appearance at the end and I imagine him showing up only to quickly get thrown back can be anti climatic.

With this kind of story, I expected it to have a final resolution. Instead, it left it open ended for an upcoming event. I guess we'll learn more with the Earth-2 title since Darkseid is apparently attacking there as well. I also think the public perception of superheroes here turned a little too quickly.

Okay finally got the comic and I thought it was really good. Just going to rattle off what I liked and did not like.
Playing up Green Lantern and Batman's conflict was great, it was very funny and one of the better character relationships in the Justice League.
"A glowing green jet! Why not put a target on our backs?"
"Well, you don't have any powers so how else were you supposed to get here? Talk in a deep voice?"
Expected a joke about his voice and still funny.
I especially liked the scene where Batman admits this is something too big for him, recognizing that being Batman right then wasn't necessary.
I was sour on Cyborg before, but I thought Johns did a great job involving the character.
This seemed to be very early in Wonder Woman's story and keeping her rather immature and ignorant about things made her kind of adorable in an accidentally going to hurt and scare people kind of way. The current Wonder Woman series takes place much later and she's much more down to earth. So its fun to see that contrast and give the character a sort of over acing journey. I understand the next Justice League arc takes a time jump, but regardless.
I also liked Green Lantern and Flash being friends. Johns has written that way before and its fun to see it in full stride. One thing I didn't like about it was how Flash didn't see himself as a vigilante. So what exactly has he been doing with his powers and a mask? I understand his motto is basically "I'm not a hero, I just want to help" which makes him the flat out good person of the group, but I'm not sure how he's been the Flash without fighting crime. At it was really jarring and annoying to see an entire police force ignore murders just to go after Flash that's just ridiculous.
Aquaman had a really cool appearance, but it mostly just felt like an appearance. With the Ancient Greeks having connections to Atlantis it would have been nice to have a connection between Wonder Woman and Aquaman.
Superman really took a hit I thought. His fight with Green Lantern was beautifully drawn and awesome, but the character never took any charge and barely says anything. How is this guy Superman? It felt like Green Lantern and Batman were taking charge and don't get me wrong, as a big GL fan it's cool, but as Flash says he's not much of the leader type. Superman just felt distant from the group. Batman's baseball analogy worked well. Bunch of power houses taking turns as leader. I just wish Superman would have taken some initiative.
Really the last and most obvious flaw is the thin conflict. I suppose most of it was them trying to work together, but Darkseid didn't really do much and it was never really explained why this was all taking place where it did. Why is Darkseid's daughter important anyway? It just felt like there was a missing 3rd act.
With a 6 issue arc not everyone got their time to shine, but it was still a really entertaining comic.
