Here it is, plain and simple. Joss Whedon, famed creator of series such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, Firefly, and much more. I made the Firefly thread months ago, so unfortunately, there may be some overlap if anyone decides to pick up the series and discuss it in the future.
I'm nearing midseason of season 3 of Angel, and mid-season of season 6 for Buffy. I never thought I'd watch either of those shows, but when it was announced that Joss Whedon would be directing the Avengers and writing the script for it, I had to do some research. Before I knew it, I was smitten by Firefly and I started looking for more. Buffy takes a little while to get into, but once you see that it doesn't take itself too seriously, you begin to take it seriously as a show. Season 4 changes the tone of the show pretty dramatically, but it remains true to the heart of the characters and doesn't lose its sense of humor.
Today's musical episode is what inspired me to create this section. In addition to the wonderful "Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog", he has also written and directed an episode of Glee. God knows how long it would've taken before he wrote a musical episode of Firefly. Maybe it's good that he didn't. I'm done for now, and I'm just going to leave this here. It's the Joss Whedon section, so comics are fair game too.

Glad to see this section has exploded with affection. If possible, I'd like to squeeze a comment of my own into this thread. XD
I finished Buffy yesterday, and I just have to say, wow, what a series. They had so much fun with it, as evidenced by their musical episodes (literally breaking out in song and dance), their riffs on the silent film era (where no one spoke for the entire episode), their mixing of genre's and their period piece stuff. Above all else, the show was optimistic and sentimental. I can't help but get a little sentimental when I finish a show, but this show has become one of my all time favorites. I have a soft spot for the man, what can I say?

I finished Angel a few weeks back. It's a shame that the show ended due to an epic pissing contest in which no one was really participating in. Freaking producers. I think Angel is probably a better show than Buffy overall. Not because of the characters, some of which came from Buffy. More because Drew Goddard came into the picture, and he and Whedon work really well off each other. Also, I think that Buffy sort of found it's footing and Joss decided he knew what he wanted it to be some time during season 3, and Angel picks up right when season 3 ends. This show had a clarity to it from the start, which is why it's probably more consistent in terms of quality. The way that it ends is a real tease too. I'm sure they had something fantastic in store. Oye.
