Seriously, spoilers on in this thread, so if you haven't read the issue or have been somehow able to avoid the news the last few days, stay out!

Going out in a blaze of glory against his rapidly aged clone/brother the Heretic, Damian "Robin" Wayne was killed in action.
Based on the last panel, I was hoping for some sign that it may have been a bait and switch thing, but these Requiem covers for March's Batman books show that isn't the case.

Still, I was kinda hoping for something a little more emotional with his famous last words (like Ultimate Spidey's death), but I guess the whole Batman arrives too late scene works (and mirror's Jason's death in a way).
For those wondering about the future of the Batman and Robin book, after #18's silent issue, it will become simply "Batman and...", a sort of Batfamily team-up book. It will be "Batman and Red Robin" for #19 in April, and "Batman and Red Hood" for #20 in May. I wonder how long this will last.
I kinda hope we see Damian again, but not too soon. He really grew on me since his first appearance in 2006. He went from a brat, to a badass Robin in contrast to Dick's lighter Batman, to a good son embracing his paternal family (see the Batman and Robin Annual from January). If he were to come back, I'd like it to wait for at least a couple years, let Bruce deal with it for awhile.
This begs to question now the possibility of a new Robin if they're going to have a new one. But again, not so soon. I mean, it was quite awhile before Tim took over from Jason. With Bruce, his own son's death may make it harder for him to accept another protege, even if they want it like Tim did. Still, if it happens, the most likely suspect is Harper Row from Snyder's title.
But alas, rest in peace Damian.
