What If The Decimation (Snap) Never Happened? What If The Blip Never Happened? ^^^^ I would be surprised if these two aren't addressed I just think it would be neat to see what would happen if Thanos got super close but then Thor actually killed him in Infinity War. Then what happens? You know what, I'm starting to feel that. Let's see... Gamora and Vision stay dead probably. The world would probably be thriving like no other time in the history of civilized man. T'Challa had opened up Wakanda's services before s*** went south right? I bet we would've been flourishing with their help. Tony and Pepper probably would've had their daughter either way. Ant Man would've been able to see his daughter grow up, maybe given her some training. I think Thor would've still become restless after a while, just for different reasons. I think he eventually would've went off with the Guardians one way or another. Banner wouldn't have become Professor Hulk, maybe he and Natasha would've worked things out? Time travel would never have been invented, but that would've been okay. Except Captain America would've never gone off and become old man Cap and Sam wouldn't have received the SHIELD. I imagine Bucky is living a peaceful life on a Wakandan farm. Hawkeye would've lived a peaceful life on his farm. Nick Fury would still be doing what he's doing in space with the Skrulls, and Captain Marvel wouldn't have ever had to take time to go planet hopping in search of a solution to the Snap. What she would've done in that time is a mystery to us still, but it probably involves tracking down the Skrulls and reuniting them. Dr. Strange... God knows what he would've been up to. His possibilities extend so much further than literally everyone else. Spider-man would be in college now, and we'd finally get to see a proper version of his college self too. Probably would've met Harry, Norman, and Gwen, Conners, etc. He'd be more classic Spidey than the MCU had ever shown him before. The Guardians would still be doing Guardians' s*** I would imagine. They've taken hard losses before, but I think they would have carried on eventually. Feel weird including my own quotes, but I didn't want to bury these or the thoughts that went into the response. Okay, so this also got me thinking, what if the science of the movie was tweaked a bit so that the Avengers were able to bring everyone back, but also go back to 2018 where the Snap never had to happen. This way, no one had to experience those 5 years of trauma, loss, mourning, etc.? Can you imagine how the movie might've played out differently? We're talking a 3 movie conclusion to the Infinity Saga instead of 2. Endgame would be more about the relationships that were developed in that 5 year time after Thanos's execution, which would then be totally erased from existence. Instead of the second act of Endgame being a "Time Heist", it's instead about them working together to solve the problem of time travel and the relationships they build during their search of that common goal. I'm imagining something like The Martian, where the entire film is based on the process of problem solving. The third film would then start with the time heist, and conclude with people coming together only to say goodbye (though not really) and re-embrace their rightful place in the timeline, where none of it ever happened. The epitome of bitter sweet. Damn. You guys, I love this thread. Channeling my inner Kanye right now.

After Age of Ultron, I had this crazy idea about a Hulk in Space movie, like Gravity. I became so obsessed about it that I wrote an overlong post somewhere here on the boards. Now with these "What Ifs", I've basically resurrected it, but in a modified form. What if... Another way of doing Hulk in space would be Hulk landing on another savage planet, uninhabited by intelligent life though. The struggle between Hulk and Banner really takes center stage here, as both aspects desperately need each other to survive the harsh alien landscape. The movie would be like Castaway but with some King Kong elements in there where he's battling giant creatures. I'm imagining he's near an ocean or something while on this planet. The entire time, the Hulk struggles to cope with his solitude, but ends "happily" as he finds inner peace and balance. The after credits reveal another Avenger porting in or washing up on shore. They aren't lost, but rather, they've found him. I was thinking that in certain cases in the comics, one shot stories have become so popular that they actually landed their own series. Then I thought, if Marvel were to take on the Hulk Island idea I talked about above, and it somehow garnered enough attention to warrant a follow up, they could do something like this: Professor Hulk in this story is invulnerable to sickness, disease, even cell degradation and is in essence immortal, and he's been on the island for hundreds of years. The Avenger that goes to pick Hulk up from the Island isn't from his time and is like a descendant of Hawkeye or Iron Man or maybe even a much older Thor. They'd be coming to get him because he's needed to help stop some insane threat, so when they go back to Earth it's all futuristic and what not. That part I haven't thought about, but as a follow up to this non-existent story it could be fun :S

Does the animation remind anyone else of Atlantis: The Lost Empire in some shots?

So, I know the first season of What If deals with the Infinity Saga, so they won't deal with anything to do with Phase 4 plans and beyond. That said, this is the "What If" thread, so assuming this can happen in later seasons...
What If... hundreds of years ago, an earlier Black Panther, the Mandarin (THE one and only), and an Iron Fist *to be* all met up in the Tournament of Heavenly cities? The winner gets the chance to fight the dragon Shou Lao and claim the power of the Iron Fist. The Mandarin has been using the power of the 10 rings to conquer the world and has already conquered all of Asia. His conquests have caught the attention of the Wakandans who seek to put a stop to his threat of their empire and the world. While the Mandarin has the power of the 10 rings, several attempts at sabotage have been made to remove the rings, and thus he wants to possess power separate from them in the event his enemies succeed. The heavenly city of K'un-Lun sends their best warrior to the tournament, as s/he will be the city's protector using the power of the Iron Fist (as all Iron Fists have been having won prior tournaments). Should the Mandarin succeed in winning the contest, he would acquire the power of the fist for himself and abandon the duty of protecting K'un-Lun.
In this story, I imagine the Black Panther knows what duties befall the victors, and therefore make it their goal to insure that a worthy opponent wins. So, they enter the tournament only to bump off the competition.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The fight fan in me also wants to concoct a way to have a modern day Black Panther and Iron Fist test each other in hand to hand combat as well. In the story above, this wouldn't happen because none of the participants have the power and abilities of the Iron Fist while fighting in the tournament. If an excuse could be made to have these two fight each other though, think of the potential that would have?
As you all know, Panthers have the knowledge of the Panthers, which is like being able to tap into all of the experience of prior Black Panthers. Iron Fists have a similar power in being connected to prior Iron Fists. It's a trope in martial arts films that fighters will switch styles to keep an element of surprise in combat. A fight between these two could take that to levels like never before. Top that off with the fact that Black Panther has a lot of cool gadgets he can use on top of his super reflexes, strength, and agility and throw in that Iron Fist can transfer his chi to objects (including projectiles) in a similar manner that Gambit uses to charge objects, and we'd have one hell of a show on our hands.

So happy to see Spider-Man in there, albeit a bit older looking. I'm confused about the RDJ replacement though. For some reason I thought he was one of the many reprising their roles. Now that I've gone back and looked at the list of returning actors, I don't see Chris Evans or Benedict Cumberbatch in the line up either! Baaahh!
That aside, this trailer still looks super cool!

So, I'll come right out and say it: My expectations have been exceeded. I don't think the cartoon is earth shattering, but DisneyXD this ain't. I found episode 1 to be surprisingly creative and have a lot of heart. I wondered if this would just be a glorified retread garnished with embellishments, but... the Mandalorian has been praised because it feels like it's something Jon Favreau and his buddies lovingly crafted from their very own adolescent fantasies. It's the realization of their 12 year old self's best fan fic, in the best way possible. I think "What If" possesses that same attribute. I absolutely loved it, and while I was initially disappointed that Chris Evans didn't voice Steve Rogers, I was very impressed with Spectacular Spider-Man's very own Josh Keaton. That guy is a quality, quality voice actor. He sounded just like Evans, and was still able to inject heart into the part as though it was his own. I don't want to say he made it his own because he embodied Chris Evans' performance (with his voice, haha) perfectly, but just like I said, it was as though it was his own.
Also, the action in this is top notch. Peggy isn't here to mess around and she's much more violent than Steve ever was in the 40s. It's great. What did you guys think?

They perfectly captured the vibe of The First Avenger. They pulled off the scenario while still keeping in spirit with that movie. I suspect this will be a theme going forward.
