As a teaser, I'm glad that it leaves the audience guessing as to what's to come. I will be watching this movie, possibly multiple times in theaters, and I'll be buying the physical copy when it comes out too. I fully suspect this movie will blow me away and that I will love this movie as much as I loved the first one, maybe more, which is a tall order.
However... I wasn't feeling the trailer overall. I liked the emotional speech given by Miles's mom. This next part will come across as "old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn", but..
I didn't like the chaos or the animation style. That said, I've read some things explaining the inspiration behind the different animation styles, and that actually is something that excites me.
So within the context of the movie, I fully suspect this will be something I love. It's just that in trailer format without the extra context the movie will provide, I didn't like the experience of viewing that animation style even though I have an idea of why they did it and what they're going for.
To be perfectly honest, the first movie was a little hard on my eyes too. I actually enjoyed the home viewing experience more because I could control my tv settings a bit, and that's weird, because this is the only movie I've felt that way about with the exception of "A Scanner Darkly". What a bizarre movie that one was.

I liked this trailer. Was a little worried I wouldn't for reasons similar to what I explained in my post above. However, this really gets me hyped and apparently it has snagged a ton of views within its first 24 hours too. Way to go Spidey!

Just saw the movie today. Wow. This exceeded my expectations, and I think I was being pretty optimistic all things considered. For me, it's the best Spider-Man movie, easy. I don't know how they can possibly top it in terms of what it does for Spider-Man fans. You all seen it yet? What did you all think? I'm buzzing on this movie hard.

According to boxofficemojo.com, this movie sits at $684,406,311. We're in that transition phase from a movie still being in theaters but also available to stream at home for a price of $19.99 or so. I gotta say, I'm so proud of this movie. Controversies aside, relevant as they may be, this movie is making an impact on pop culture to the point where it is becoming a part of the zeitgeist. I teach math to middle schoolers, 7th graders, at a school that embraces the 1 to world model. By that I mean every child in the school has a Macbook and uses that Macbook to varying degrees in each class. This is all made possible by special grant agreements that Apple has with schools across the country, or at least, in CA. Anyway, I can't tell you how many kids I've come across who have have Miles Morales Spider-Man wall papers on their Macs. They absolutely LOVE Miles Morales Spider-Man. Even the ones who aren't really into superheroes that much, they love these last 2 movies.
Regarding the controversy surrounding the VFX artists, I think this goes beyond just Sony. While their animators are from their in house animation studio, the problems they face with their working conditions and contracts are present across the entire industry. On a macro level, we're seeing this "laborers vs industry" battle really kick up in just about every industry you can think of. Whether it's professional fighters, educators, the FedEx guy, actors, writers, you name it... the disparities between the guys in the board room /board of directors rooms and the blue collared workers are being acknowledged on a wider level. Hopefully it leads to fairer wages and more reasonable working conditions.
