I would suggest Netflix. You can probably get a free trial for a month or something, that's a common promo deal. They'll send you your dvds within 2 days time during the work week. I mean, if you want to own the movie, then I dont' know, playstation store i guess. I don't have a ps3, so I can't say, but Caveboy probably knows what he's talking about.

Sweet. I'm gonna see it Friday. What I really want to see is how the Ape uprising ends. Clearly the humans won't be overthrown by spears, but it SHOULD set the stage for more movies.

I hear there is a post-credit scene. I only stayed long enough to watch the scene that came on after 1 minute of credits. It's pretty vital for the next movie So seeing this movie, I was very, very impressed. I wasn't expecting such an emotional journey into pure chaos. Seeing the horrors Caesar and some of these other apes have to go through, it's easy to understand why they did what they did. It starts out telling us about this new medicine that's supposed to cure alzheimer's and other degenerative syndromes. That in itself was interesting to watch. Then we get into the emotional side of the story. This is what made the movie what it was. Caesar was raised like a human and acted as a human child would. Throughout the movie, one can see that caesar has an inferiority complex with the humans. All he really wants is to be treated like any other human--not like a monkey. The emotions of the monkeys were conveyed incredibly well-especially Caesar. You know how he feels, how he thinks. You can see his personality. Once he gets thrown in with other monkeys, you can see his capacity for leadership and strategy. It's actually quite interesting to watch the interaction between apes. This was another of the movie's strengths. It's realistic. At first the apes do not like Caesar very much. Caesar actually gets his ass kicked by what appears to be the alpha male. But of course, Caesar works around that. The effects were also top notch. At some point during the movie, I almost forgot that these monkeys were fake. They move smoothly, and they have good texture to them. The action is also excellent. I mean, come on. We're talking about rampaging monkeys. What's not cool about that? It should be noted that the apes do NOT take over the world with spears. I shouldn't tell you how the ape uprising ends, just know that it's actually a very logical path. The movie does indeed set the stage for the sequel with the post credits scene. I look forward to more.

as one who has never watched a Planet of the Apes film, I was amazed on how good it was in the end. Definetely a good start of a reboot to this franchise

I may be going overboard here, but this may be one of the best movies of the year. It was just great. For some reason I just got overjoyed whenever Caesar and the other apes did something pretty awesome, like the bridge scene. One of the best parts though is when Caesar first screamed "NO!". The whole theater got silent when that happened. I really liked it when some of the characters that were assholes got what they deserved, ie Dodge, Jacobs, and the pilot. And of the course the reason how the apes will eventually take over was a great twist. We'll probably see more of that in detail in the sequel.
I think they might have gone overboard though on the original film easter eggs.

At least enough where the apes become the dominant species. The map charting the virus course was a nice touch.

I'm sad to be more than a little behind on getting to this film, but the main thing is that I saw it before it left theaters. I too had a stunned reaction when Caesar uttered his first word. I mean, it was just so well handled. I also agree with BIB that this movie is one of the year's best. I haven't seen all the artsy films out there, or the indie picks for that matter. But as far as the summer movies go, this one is the best IMHO, and there have been some fantastic movies that have come out these past few months. At the very least, this movie needs to get a nod at the Oscars for best VFX. WETA has once again raised the bar. And Andy Serkis too. That dude rocked it.

oh yeah WETA is probably the best in special effects right now.
i was spoiled about him saying no so i felt like i missed out a little. by expecting it took me out of it.
its hard to take back spoilers. it was just a random comment with nothing to do with it and thats that.

Andy Serkis signs on for future installments; Fox will also campaign to get him an Oscar:
