sweetness.
not many people know that the original movie was a franchise there were like 6 movies and one of them was a prequel.
i've only seem clips of the original prequel but it looked liked the best sequel/prequel of the series. it was dark and interesting. not many people remember that one or any of the sequels so i think this is a good reboot/remake.
if they keep to it close enough then it will be more then monkey action and have some solid monkey and people communication becasue realistically the monkey's taking over by force is unlikely. the original had a sort of slow demise of the human race in a time of peace between man and ape.

I remember watching the original, but it was so long ago I couldn't go into detail on it. Also, didn't Tim Burton Direct an installment back in 2000 or something? I think Michael Bay produced it or something, and Michael Clark Duncan was in the movie too.
The trailer looks promising, and I'm pretty sure this movie is supposed to be a sci-fi epic with a serious tone. James Franco however, never fails to make me grin. We'll see how this movie pans out, and if the actors in it were cast correctly.

Cavey, there were only 5 movies in the original series, and excellent, yes, Burton did direct a 2001 remake with an unsatisfying ending.
This looks good though.

wow i must say it looks excellent.
i see a parallel to the first movie in that the apes don't talk. i imagine that it'd end with ceasar speaking. this really has potential.
and very glad they got rid of that cheesy line. "the cure" silly. finish that sentence!

Holy shit. Is that the best musical score for a blockbuster this year or what? Honestly, I was skeptical of this movie before seeing that trailer. The CGI from the other trailer just didn't seem up to par with what WETA is capable of doing, and James Franco was hard to take serious (for me anyway). Now I see this and I think, "could it be that this movie will go down as the best film of the summer?" If the trailer is any indication, I think we're in for one hell of a ride.
