www.bleedingcool.com/2012/04/25/flashpoint-to-be-a-dc-direct-to-dvd-animated-movie/While still unofficial at this point, it appears that last year's DC event "Flashpoint" which led to the line-wide reboot of "The New 52" will be a future DC Universe Original Animated Movie. probably after the DKR 2 parter. Kevin Conroy has said he has recorded his part for the film. He didn't give exact details, but the film will feature the Flash and it seems he only guessed it would be Flashpoint; it might be likely though since Flash and Batman were the main characters. I'm guessing he recorded for Bruce's scene from the end of the series. It's interesting how they're making this into a film so soon. I wonder how they'll handle it. I mean, there is the different world aspect, but will the end be the same, or will it be like "everything's normal again" and not feature Pandora and the merging of DC, Vertigo, and Wildstorm. I see them going with the "eveything's normal" route.

I had hoped they were working on 'The Dark Knight Returns' adaptation by now.

They probably are. I see it going a few ways. DKR 1, DKR 2, Flashpoint; Flashpoint, DKR 1, DKR 2; or DKR 1, Flashpoint, DKR 2. I'm hoping for the first one but could see the second one to give a break.
Anyway, I'd kinda like it if Neil Patrick Harris reprise his role as Barry Allen as he did in New Frontier. These movies usually get some well known stars, and NPH would do nicely. Besides that, if they were considering Michael Rosenbaum, I still see him as Wally West more than Barry Allen.

"When time travel allows a past wrong to be righted for The Flash and his family, the ripples of the event prove disastrous as a fractured, alternate reality now exists where a Justice League never formed, and even Superman is nowhere to be found. Teaming with a grittier, more violent Dark Knight and Cyborg, Flash races to restore the continuity of his original timeline while this new world is ravaged by a fierce war between Wonder Woman's Amazons and Aquaman’s Atlanteans. With breath taking action and an all-star voice cast, it's a bold, emotional vision that will forever change the landscape of the DC Universe." While we can't reveal the full cast just yet (and we wish we could), we can share a few. Kevin Conroy leaked his return to the role of Batman in the film, and WBA confirmed the actor will be playing Bruce Wayne/Batman in the non-Flashpoint era sections of the film. Ron Perlman will be back as Slade Wilson, Deathstroke, Dana Delany returns to Lois Lane. We can also announce that Vanessa Marshall, no stranger to superhero animation having played Mary Jane Watson, Black Canary, Black Widow, Poison Ivy, and more, will be reprising her role from Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths as Wonder Woman. Other pivotal castings including Flash, Cyborg, Reverse Flash, Aquaman, and Thomas Wayne/Batman will be revealed soon. Along with the casting, release date, and description, see the first official still from The Flashpoint Paradox to your right, featuring The Flash in action. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox comes from DC Entertainment, Warner Bros Animation and Warner Bros Home Entertainment July 30, 2013.I'm a little surprised Conroy isn't just playing both Bruce AND Thomas. That's what he's always done.

got around to watching it yesterday.
me and my brother thought it was pretty awesome. Having read the comic it was cool to see how they would adapt the rather short event and I thought they did a fantastic job. The art and animation was off the wall. The shots of Superman when he finally saw the Sun and flew were beautiful.
In many respects the film betters the comic. Giving too much context is basically the flaw of the film, too many throw away tid bits about the altered reality, but it was made a better story by establishing the fate of Barry's mother and the Justice League as it was before delving into this alternate world and even then going that step further to show how much worse everything is and giving a proper grasp of the various conflicts at hand instead of mere tastes from Flash's perspective.
I really felt like what the stakes were and loved how in some ways life seemed normal but only because America was neutral to a war that would eventually knock on their door. Jump to the war front in Europe and it seems like hell. Flash and alternate Batman teaming up was a great match up in the comic and faithfully adapted here. I always felt like Batman and Flash have the healthiest friendship out of all the JL members. This is kind of turned on its ear with a more brutal and violent Batman. They eventually build what is really the emotional drive to see reality return back to the way it was. This is Flash's story, but it wouldn't be the same without Batman and I'm glad the film adapted that aspect so well.
I guess the last thing to say is that the action in the film is incredible. Just the right amount of blood and dirt to feel realistic. The opening JL conflict in the beginning was a fantastic way to display each members process to deal with a similar problem. Without spoiling anything by far my favorite was Superman's. As the story progresses to the alternate reality the battles become more war like and has this great pace and variety. Flash and Reverse Flash's final showdown was a really cool display of speedster based combat. They just work on a completely different level than anyone else.
I'd definitely recommend seeing the film, but its hard to know if you'll want to own it without seeing it. So would suggest renting it like I did.

I agree with alot of what you said Cavey. I think I enjoyed the film better than the comics it was based on, but think it could've done better in some areas. The action was awesome and had pretty much the most violence I've seen in DC animation. I'm glad Flash got the spotlight for a change, especially since he's gonna be in the public eye for the next few years with a new TV show and movie. I also think they gave good attention to detail on things in the Flashpoint world, like showing Krypto's skeleton in the testing facility. Along with that, I like how they went into detail in the flashbacks about what happened to Clark, Arthur, Diana, and Bruce. Speaking of, I really enjoyed when Martha started laughing maniacally with Bruce's blood on her face making her smile, showing that she was this world's Joker. I tell you, I've watched this a few time, and I still get goosebumps at that scene. Hell, it even made me go back reread the Batman tie-in series. This was definitely another one of DC's best animated films.

For those who haven't seen it yet, there will be spoilers in this post.
I finally got around to seeing it. This is probably the best DCAU movie that has come out since Under the Red Hood. I agree that there might have been too many throw away alternate reality tid bits, but it definitely made the movie interesting. I wasn't actually sure how to interpret Bruce's mom laughing like that. At first I thought the movie was taking a note from Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film; guess not. I still don't get what Aqua man and Wonder Woman were doing. Seeing Aqua man's wife beheaded like that was so sad... then the ending. I might've gotten a little misty eyed. Great stuff.
Feel free to fill me in on what was going on with Aqua man and Wonder Woman though, seriously, I'm drawing a blank as to why they'd do what they did.
EDIT: I think I have it figured out now. I saw the movie only once, but I think that the editing made the aqua man/wonder woman scene unintentionally confusing. Somehow, over time they fell in love with each other. Then, on some diplomacy meeting aqua man brought his wife, probably with the best of intentions. He and wonder woman get carried away and his wife walks in on them. She later confronts wonder woman, and the rest is history.
