I think Marvel tried to pull a fast one in today's episode. They used the EMH animations in a flashback scene. Probably trying to make people think the shows are in the same continuity when they're obviously not.

eh, what can you do.
this episode was rather poor. childish plot honestly. "DON'T TELL IRON MAN" as shit gets destroyed. its like those kids stories about how lies snowball.
BUT the episode previous to this one, was actually pretty great. Hyperion was a really interesting character. how he turned out to be this dark version of Superman while also having the Avengers question their purpose. It actually explored interesting ideas and was executed rather well.

Anyone else see today's awesome? No doubt the best to date, mostly due to a much more serious tone. I liked how there were some 2099 influence with Doom in control and Thor prophecied to return. Along with that, it was cool to see Hawkeye in his other Ultimate suit. Plus, I geeked out when they showed Spider-Man in his Noir costume; probably the best time Drake Bell has voiced Spidey, again, due to the serious tone of the episode. Also did not expect Punisher to show up.

So, I finally got around to coming back to the show. The episode descriptions sound like fun, but the execution is terrible. Ultimate Spider-man is definitely the better of these two shows, and though I'm not the latter's biggest fan, I'm definitely excited to see what they have in store for us this year (more on that in the Spidey thread). With regard to the episode above, it was pretty great (poor execution aside). I enjoyed seeing the noir outfit, I liked seeing Thor kick ass, and I appreciated the intellectual competitiveness between Banner and Stark. All in all, it was a pretty good* episode, and it makes me want to give the show another go around. Back to the show's execution, I think one of the things that really bugs me is the animation. It isn't so much the character designs, as it is the actual motion. With Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the animation improved over time, and though it still cannot compare to the competition, I had fun watching the team's battles. The same can't be said for the action here. I find myself sometimes getting bored during the climaxes, which is something that should never happen when things go boom in a cartoon. The other thing that gets me is the characterization. It all feels so hollow, none of these characters really stick with you. In a way, it makes me appreciate USM more. *Note my use of positive adjectives.
