I've been avoiding much of this. I'm a little surprised, to be honest. Josh Trank did a short little documentary piece on death in comic books where he went into great detail talking about how The Death of Superman "ruined" all death in comic books. Or, I guess it set a precedent that others started to follow and death sort of became nonpermanent in the medium thereafter. He came off as someone really steeped in comic book culture. I guess I just expected more out of him after that and Chronicle. Still though, without having seen the movie, I have some hope... just a little.

Well with the travesty that's to come, I don't blame them for not wanting to be associated with it. Film rights aside, I'm sure there are story reasons as well. After all, Marvel did say that every book is leading up to the new Secret Wars.

Ahhh, the things Marvel could've done with those rights...

The plot of the film has possibly been leaked. Since I ain't seeing it, I'm not considering it spoilers. If you guys want to read it, let's just say that it's hard to read right off the bat. www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=111202If this is true, and based on what's already been revealed about this movie, I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, geez, it sounds like Trank took whatever ideas he had for a Chronicle sequel and just reworked it to make a "Fantastic Four" movie. At least if this was for Chronicle, it would have been interesting because there was a good mystery of where their powers came from and that could have been explored. But instead, we're getting this crap. FUCK. THIS. MOVIE.

Devin Faraci and El Mayimbe hinted in December that the film was in trouble (the later referring to film-makers behaving badly and trashing stuff).
I feel sorry for Trank... even though his substance abuse might be the catalyst that returns the F4 rights to Marvel. He screwed up big time. His career is probably over and Disney will almost certainly kick him off Star Wars.

I honestly felt that the "wait and see" approach held promise; that there was a good chance that we'd be pleasantly surprised. Sometimes, you just get a curve ball though. I mean, unless you were actually aware of the rumblings with regard to on set shenanigans, I don't think anyone quite expected this to be the reason Fox was being so mum. This really is too bad. Yeah, I want F4 to go back to Marvel, if not for its protagonists, at least for the villains the property carries with it. Still though, I wanted Trank to succeed and be successful, and I have to credit Fox for breathing life into their X-Men franchise again. I said I'd see the movie if it gained enough positive word of mouth, but this may be the second time in this film franchise's history (I think it happened in the 90's too) that the final product never makes it to the silver screen.

Strange and confusing news but Fox has announced FF2 for June 2nd 2017. Kind of makes you wonder why they'd even plan a release date if the film was in as much jeopardy as previously reported.
I will say that after going back and rereading the articles on changes that were being made to the characters, I'm beginning to better understand why the "wait and see" approach was harder to go by this time out. See, I remember reading about changes, but I never paid much attention to any of the specifics.

This has got to be the weirdest movie news I've (kinda) been following in my life...

Hopefully that's true, I'm really curious about this movie. No matter the outcome, I feel it'll be quite the surprise.

If you just looked at this pic on its own without any knowledge about it, you probably wouldn't even be able to tell it's for a Fantastic Four movie. I mean, I get that they want to make the suits less superhero-y, but if you look at the original X-Men trilogy suits, you could at least tell they were the X-Men.
