Sorry about all the crazy spelling, grammatical, and syntax issues earlier. I was using my cell phone to post the comment. screenrant.com/war-planet-of-apes-movie-preview-details/ScreenRant had this huge explosion of WOTPOTA news (the acronyms continue to be ridiculous, lol) yesterday. There's this set visit report/preview and a ton of articles featuring cast, producer, and director interviews. Thinking back to their podcast episode on DOTPOTA (;D), they began to speculate on the future of this franchise. I think it's Kofi who asks us to imagine the next movie being this, Saving Private Ryan-esque war drama. Can you imagine? The creators certainly speak of the characters with a love, affection, and thoughtfulness that lends confidence to this notion. I know that Dawn sets us up for it as viewers, that possibility in what we could hope for. Especially if the Apes' culture continues to evolve. Some interesting comparisons for this franchise has been brought up as well. One of them was a comparison to Boyhood, and how these actors have watched themselves grow older in front of, and behind the camera. The other comparison is to Chris Nolan's Batman franchise. Nolan rebooted the Batman series from what had progressively become sillier and sillier, and delivered a thought provoking, exciting new take. Same thing here. Another thing I'm excited about is that the film is purported to be like, 95% Apes. I sincerely do hope that is the case.

I read somewhere yesterday than another Logan trailer is coming soon. What movie(s) do you guys think they will attach the trailer to?

Saban's Power Rangers
First off, this title is hilarious. I'll just come out with it and admit that I never watched the show as a child. I wasn't allowed to, my dad went through a few funny phases with what he allowed us to watch and what he didn't. I have no attachment to this whatsoever, but I will say that it looks like stupid fun. Maybe a little generic? Then again, there's a certain flare to it that they're really owning too. I'm excited for it now. Sure, why not?

I will never be able to take Power Rangers seriously. It's too corny.

What if they own the corn and the cheese? Sometimes, movies that own it make it work in their own way, you know? I never answered your question about the Logan trailer. I think it'll be attached to... John Wick maybe?

I see this new Power Rangers as if they've given the original the Abrhams/Star Trek treatment. Taking something cheesy, making it serious, but still being faithful to the lore while making it their own. Hell, I have a theory that Rita has the Green Ranger coin in her staff.
I've been an off and on Power Rangers fan, so I should say that despite the series' nature of people in spandex fighting rubber monsters, it has been known to get serious, even more so than when it originally began, taking on some mature themes, including death. If there's three seasons I could recommend, it's In Space, Time Force, and RPM, which I'm pretty sure are all on Netflix. And on that note of RPM (my favorite season), it's set in a future where machines have taken over the planet, save for one domed city that the Rangers defend; seriously, they don't even hide the fact that people are imprisoned, killed, or even experimented on by the machines. And while it is serious, it has a little fun with it too, sometimes even poking at the franchise itself.

I might have to check it out. I'm not completely opposed to Power Rangers, it's just that it's not my thing. I liked Dino Thunder pretty good. I grew up on Dino Thunder and SPD. I tried to re-watch them recently and it made me cringe. I do still really like the Mighty Morphin era. I have one of the movies they made from it and I loved it. I still have it somewhere

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2
I love everything they've put out. All their trailers and posters, the music... just wonderful.

The test screening for this movie got a perfect score

I read that. It wasn't like a general audience test screening, but more like their traditional 'test screening' to their friends and family. Prior to Guardians 2, their 2 highest scoring films from this special screening they do were Avengers (the 1st one) and Iron Man 3. While Iron Man 3 sort of takes the excitement level down a little for me, I still think that any good news is good news.

I hope this isn't a letdown like Prometheus.

It looks like a bad, modern rehash of the original. I really hope that's not the case. The xenomorph doesn't look menacing at all. It looks like they changed the design for the worst

War for the Planet of the Apes
If this movie is as good as Dawn, it'll be one of the best films this year. If it's better, it could end up being a contender in the best picture race. I still think Dawn should've gotten a nod in 2014. We won't know how good it is until it comes out, but I'm seeing a lot of Batman fans on maximum hype mode after seeing this trailer. This bodes well. So, I know we don't usually talk politics here, but I'm going to break the unspoken rule we have going on.
Now, in 2011 I campaigned for Cesar and War Horse for the U.S.'s next President and Vice President. In 2014, I tried to get the ball rolling early for the 2016 election by promoting Cesar and his Orangutan companion Maurice. This year, once again, I'm trying to get the ball rolling for Cesar and new running mate Kong. It's a match made in heaven, brains and brawn. No one shall stand in their way, except maybe Godzilla. However, once they settle their differences I imagine he'd make a great Secretary of Defense, while Maurice could be the head of the department of education (assuming he survives WOTPOTA). Let's just hope nothing happens under Godzilla's nostrils, because while we all love our boy Kong, we know he'd need help behind the desk in Cesar's absence. That boy of his, Blue Eyes, is still a little 'green' in the political arena. He's a good kid tho.
