man i hate that she knows. i don't think she is going to die guys. besides it ruins half of her death now that she in't this tragic casualty. her knowledge puts her in more danger and if she does die its just not the same to me. i mean if she dies then what will peter think? oh if i tell anyone else that i'm spiderman they will die. Yeah...? In the comics, he almost gave up Spider-Man because GG killed Gwen because he was Spider-Man. And if anything, her knowing means that she is in greater danger which means it makes more sense for her to be picked up by GG. I dunno, I like it. Actually, no, I don't. I don't care about it.

i know but doesn't it mean something more to spiderman that it doesnt' even matter if they know or not? they can still get hurt. i just think to let her in and then she dies will just make him even more careful. instead of opening up to MJ who knew since she was 16.
i just think it changes the dynamic and pushes the movie more into ultimate comic territory, which i would still think inferior.

hey maybe with the costume and the webshooters we'll get a sort of batman begins origin story. It's pretty much confirmed that this is an origin. We have a lot of pre-Spidey scenes. That picture with Aunt May and Uncle Ben looking at Peter with all the food makes me think that the spider bite might be like a 2nd puberty. AND! Did anyone notice that in every picture, Peter has the sleeves over his wrists? Maybe he always wears the web-shooters just in case. That would be very clever.

Interview with Andrew: justjared.buzznet.com/2011/07/14/andrew-garfield-spidey-suit-for-ew-cover/On relating to Peter Parker: “I always felt stronger inside than I looked on the outside, which got me into trouble. I related to Peter Parker so much because I felt like someone else inside. I loved the comic books and the animated TV series, and I even dressed up as Spider-Man as a kid. My brother was Superman.” On checking out the first Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire Spidey film: “That rekindled everything. I bought a pirated copy on Portobello Road and watched it over and over with my buddy Terry. The action sequences were so expansive and breathtaking, with Tobey swinging through the air. It just floored me!” Don't think Sony will like that.

On the topic of Gwen knowing, I actually think it gives Marc Webb and crew more creative opportunities. Peter will be keeping his identity a secret from most everyone else, I'm sure, so it's not like the world will know. The thing is, the secret identity stuff has been done so many times before. This way it'll still be there, but it has a twist. There are some good things to be taken from this. Gwen knowing makes her a more relevant character in Peter's life both as Spider-man and as Peter Parker because it brings them closer. Also, it'll elevate the level of maturity in their relationship. They're supposed to be teenagers, and they are (as far as movieland goes) but that's one of the best things about Spider-man. He was this kid who had adult problems, and those two things (youth and maturity) were constantly clashing. Of all the things Bendis may have done wrong in his Ultimate stories, that was one of the things he actually did right. I imagine that Gwen having a police detective father will really make things interesting. For a movie that's supposed to be more realistic this time around, I can't imagine him taking kindly to his daughter dating a vigilante. How will they reconcile this with the comic, which has Captain Stacy approving of Spider-man and knowing his secret identity. My favorite photos are Peter hanging upside down inside a subway train, Peter eating like an elephant (I've been wanting to do that in a fan fiction...now it'll look like I copied), and his experimental spidey costume beanie photo. And, and, ANNND, finally Marc Webb speaks: "Ultimately what this movie is about is a kid who grows up looking for his father and finds himself. And that's a Spider-man story we haven't seen before." www.superherohype.com/news/articles/167843-the-amazing-spider-man-trailer-coming-next-week

its not anything against gwen as a character it just kind of eliminates any real reason to have mj and thus gwen dying at all. and then at that point is it gwen or just ultimate mj?

Ahhh... well, it's funny that you mention it because Ultimate MJ is kinda like the classic Gwen. She's smart, attractive, and has decent social status while not being the life of the party. It's not a perfect analogy, but the classic Gwen Stacy influence on Ultimate MJ is pretty strong.

i can see that in part, but the fact is their social status and well age is totally different. popularity in college is not the same as popular or unpopular in highschool. never the less gwen was a part of the post high school popular group. with harry and flash.
at the same time even though raimi started with mj she also shared the role of gwen. so its as if we will never get the proper gwen stacy or the proper mary jane.
