why do they insist on killing off spidey over and over again? whats the point?! and if your gonna kill him why would you contradict yourself time and time again and brind him back? He's a super hero, but he's not invincible. There starting to treat his mortality like that of a cheesy horror flick villain

I spoiled myself because I didn't want to be too shocked tomorrow for whatever was going to happen. For me, it wasn't the surprise of not knowing, it was the quality of Bendis' and Bagley's execution of the story. I started out kind of complaining about it all, but over all it has been a great story. Especially the prelude. Peter Parker had some of his best moments these past 8 issues or so.

This is the first time a Spidey from a major universe has ever really died instead of just a What If? story. |

Here are the full spoilers: -MJ is trying to call Peter, but he doesn't pick up. She sees the big explosion outside the window and freaks out.
-Peter gets May away from Goblin and tells Gwen to leave with her.
-Pete wakes up Johnny Storm, who engulfs Norman in flames, but Goblin absorbs the blast and knocks Johnny out.
-Peter continues to beat on Goblin when a truck - driven by MJ - runs over Osborn.
-Peter and MJ kiss, and he throws her out of the fight to finish it.
-He then picks up that truck and hits Goblin over the head with it and it explodes.
-Everyone rushes to Peter after the blast.
-He tells May he's just happy he was able to save her like he couldn't do with Ben and his eyes close.
-Everyone is in shock that he's dead, obviously.
-Final page: close up on Norman's face, bleeding, but in the final panel he cracks a smile.
The end. Hell of an issue. |

Yeah, it really was a great issue. Freakin Osborn.
I really liked how they showed Peter's death. Bendis gives every bit of reassurance that Peter Parker Spider-man is dead-dead, but you never know what the future holds in store. Hell, Norman came back after getting shot to death. Even with that smile he's got on his face, you wonder if he's truly gone. I mean, it could just be an epic way to end Norman as well, but I don't know. I'd like to mention that it was badass to see Peter Parker lift a diesel truck repeatedly to beat Norman upside the head. It was probably his best feat of strength (brute strength anyway) in the entire series.
Some important questions to ask are: What's going to happen to Aunt May, Gwen, and MJ? What about Johnny Storm and Ice Man? Who's going to pick up the mantle? And will Peter Parker have an after life that we get to read about?...That last questions is sort of weird, but I just thought about that today.
Here's a question that doesn't spoil anything: When will we get to see what those new web shooters are capable of doing? |

In a recent interview, Bendis said he and Bagley have another issue together with Ultimate Fallout #1 dealing with his family's reaction. Bendis also said issues 4 and 6 reveal more about the future of the title. Maybe then we'll see what happens with everything then, including Osborn and the webshooters.
There is an interesting rumor I've heard though that the new Spider-Man that will debut in Ultimate Fallout before the relaunch could be the Ultimate version of Miguel O'Hara, who we know better as Spider-Man 2099. We'll see what happens there. It could work though and be interesting; at least it wouldn't be a clone.

This is the first time a Spidey from a major universe has ever really died instead of just a What If? story. The Other? Remember that? I know he was brought back but he was technically killed. |

I know he was brought back but he was technically killed. He was dead for like one issue, and we knew he'd be back right away. Besides that, I think alot of people would like to forget that story, especially the people at Marvel (notice today all the powers he got from the story are gone). Ultimate Spidey's death may stick, at least for awhile. It's also worth mentioning that dead is dead in the Ultimate universe. They killed so many characters three years ago in Ultimatum, and none of them have been brought back; this is including Wolverine, Daredevil, Cyclops, etc. |

really this was the end? it sure was intense i give you that but it was way too short. i mean MJ just randomly coming to the rescue? its just grossly convenient. and most of all is he even dead? i just have no impact on this what so ever. all the emotionally forceful panels of crying and spikey yellow background.
if goblin died sure, but he didn't so its just like who cares. whip the slate clean and actual create a different spiderman.
all this intensity in the issue for it to be completely softened with spiderman continuing his banter and making the stupid mistake of sending out human torch. that is how it ends? a gun shot wound and just bleeding out?
i know banter is fun and all but if this was supposed to be emotional it missed the mark.

In Ultimate Spider-Man, Mary Jane has never really lived that far from Peter. She's pretty much just down the street, so it would make sense that she'd be close by to see all the electricity and chaos emanating into the night sky. Could she have just stolen a diesel truck out of the blue? Probably not, but if she had taken her mother's car she probably would've been killed wrecking it into Norman.
I agree with you that the death was pretty short. I was hoping for an entire issue of grueling battle, since we already know we'll get an issue dealing with mourning. But I'm not too disappointed. Bendis himself said that Parker's death will be felt throughout the Ultimate Marvel universe. I'm thinking that the power in this story doesn't lie in a single issue, but rather, in the entire line of stories to come.

yeah but thats even assuming that they would still be fighting in the street and that there was even a truck near by.
first she has to break into the truck or hot wire it and then drive to the house and then well hope he's still in the sstreet.
the issue was way too short and could of explained that better but it didn't.
what was with that cover thing with peter and uncle ben talking? i mean come on where is that. where is some emotion. all we got was crying and peter not taking anything seriously.

As a stand alone issue, it is kind of weak in terms of emotion. Again though, we'll have an entire issue devoted to his family's reaction. That comes out sometime next month most likely, as it's already the 23.

Before the issue came out, I was hoping that it would be extra long, like issue 600 of ASM. I don't think that they could have ended the story much better with only 22 pages of space. So for the highest quality experience, either an extended final issue would've worked better, or issue 160 shouldn't have been the final issue with Peter alive. But I'm still satisfied with what we got.
