As morbid as it sounds, that's what I was thinking too. It also makes me wonder how it would effect Episode VII

I have a friend who also works for a summer camp. He goes through the same thing because he doesn't have internet access when he's up on the mountain.

School Supplying Rocks to Students www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/school-supplying-rocks-students-throw-shooters-will-stoned-173538286.htmlI had a good laugh while reading this, but the way I interpreted the story, I think this guy is getting misrepresented. Or rather, people seem to be creating their own narrative. In the story, he says they are in fact doing the typical active shooter training. People are talking as though he's giving the kids rocks as an alternative to the standard Run, Hide, Fight process; or in their case ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). That's not the case at all though. In all the trainings I've been in (as a middle school teacher) they tell you to use makeshift weapons as a last resort. So what this guy is saying is more like, okay, if the run and hide part of the protocol don't work, use this to fight back. Still a funny story, but I just feel bad for this guy. It's not his fault that gun laws are what they are. It's not like he can single handedly change that, so why is he getting crapped on?

I hope I'm not wrong on this one, but while his friends might tease him with this for the rest of his life, people will quickly forget about this specific story and move onto something else, so I wouldn't worry too much about him.

Jon Schnepp Passes Away For the last few years I've enjoyed Schnepp's commentary on everything geek. He was a regular on Collider Movie Talk, formerly known as AMC Movie Talk. Schnepp was an artist, filmmaker, and host of collider's various programs. I really loved hearing what he had to say when it came to comics and movies. May he rest in peace. James Gunn Fired from GOTG Vol.3 www.yahoo.com/entertainment/james-gunn-fired-guardians-galaxy-192822335.htmlOh my... uncharted territory for the MCU here. I'm not happy about this. Granted, I didn't enjoy Vol. 2 as much as the original, but I was happy to have him shepherding the cosmic side of the MCU going forward. Very disappointed to say the least. I mean, this isn't the same as the Edward Norton situation because Norton was only a creative consultant on the one film he was involved in, which was The Incredible Hulk. Anyway, we'll see how Disney proceeds from here.

I'd say give it to Taika Waititi. Ragnarok shows he could probably do Guardians well, but I am still concerned given how much Gunn put into the Guardians series and then have it taken away. Then there's the music; last I heard he already finalized Awesome Mix Vol. 3 but will his version still be used?

I think what made the original Guardians so refreshing is how much Marvel allowed Gunn to keep of himself in the final product. It was very much something from his DNA. If they were to keep his script and Awesome mix, but have someone else direct it, I don't think it would have the same impact. As much as I appreciate the first Ant Man, it just doesn't feel as personal as the first Iron Man, or Thor Ragnarok, or any of the Russo Brother's MCU projects, or the first Avengers film, etc IMO. That isn't to say it isn't a heartfelt, well executed project. It's just that, watching Ant Man and the Wasp, I appreciate how much more it feels like Peyton Reed's (and Paul Rudd's) film than the first one did. I wouldn't want Vol. 3 to feel like it was handed off to someone else, no matter how capable those hands. So, what if they scratched Gunn's Vol.3, and allowed someone else to come in and pitch their own fresh idea? Even if it means replacing GOTG release date with a different Marvel release.
So, I'm pitching that Marvel Studios should approach Edgar Wright for a collaborative re-do, and see if he has any interest in making his very own Guardians movie, his way. Taika Waititi is great, but I really want to see him devote his time to another Thor movie. If anything, I think Taika coming in and making Thor his own, while still depicting the character in a way that felt familiar, albeit fresher, is proof that Wright could come in and do something similar if he's interested. What do you guys think?
For the sake of argument tho, I think Taika's sensibilities would work very well for a Guardians' film, and if he were to take over, I'd be very excited.

You have a point about Ant-Man and Wasp. It did seem to play more to Reed and especially Rudd's strengths, which is probably why I enjoyed it more than the first.

Here's an article that captures and organizes my many jumbled thoughts on James Gunn's firing, in a way that is more eloquent than I could. www.vulture.com/2018/07/james-gunn-is-not-roseanne-and-disney-should-know-it.htmlThe first 2 paragraphs are basically a summary of what happened (still informative, but I'm sure you all know the situation), but the actual unpacking of the situation starts in the 3rd paragraph.

Hopefully he will be, but realistically probably not.
Another similarity that has been made is with Rosanne, with her losing her show after the racist tweet. There's MANY differences between what happened with her and Gunn though. 1) Gunn took responsibility while Barr tried to shift the blame. 2) How their colleagues responded; Gunn's supported him while Barr's know her well enough to expect her bigotry. 3) Gunn's comments were from years ago compared to a few months ago for Barr.
The point is, we all have embarrassing moments from our past, but it doesn't define us. As it's been said, that's the point of the Guardians. That's what makes things different for Hardwick and Barr.
