Just a rumor, but we all know they'll be starting a new Batman movie at some point, so why not make a thread for it now? www.batman-online.com/news/2012/8/4/the-batman-could-hit-cinemas-in-2016-rumourThe studio is sensing that audiences are a little tired of origin stories, so the next movie may just jump right into Bruce Wayne's life as a billionaire who keeps himself busy by fighting crime in Gotham City. It seems that the movie might actually be called The Batman, which is kinda cool. We can't really form any kind of opinion on this until more information on the next flick is leaked rejected.

I'd like that. Most characters in the universe refer to him that way it feels more immersive in a way.
Now a lot of people keep saying "when they reboot it they are going/should go lighter for the justice league"
and my response is why? Why should it be lighter? Whatever this new reboot will be should not be lighter it should be as dark if not darker. The difference is simply realism. This Batman has to allow for aliens and monster men so to speak. doesn't meant the threat should be dumbed down by any stretch just something to consider.
basically my list would be this:
Believable, but futuristic tech.
I think Batman could use a sleek near future tech kind of look. Something to bring this Batman out of our world in a small way. Allow for a little more out there kind of gadgets as well as bringing Batman closer to the greater DCU. This would also mean allow Bruce to develop his own tech this time around.
Attention to the love interest.
Rachel Dawes was an okay character a little underrated actually for her significance in the series, but very plain jane supposedly reflective of the "success" of MJ in the Spider-Man movies. This time around they need to bring in a female character with some pop. Someone to really remember. My suggestion is Silver St. Cloud. Bruce's main squeeze during the 70's. The name alone would turn heads along with her silver blonde hair. With the right style this character would fit perfectly.
Characterize Gotham
I think this is the most important way to make this a worthy interpretation. Explore Gotham like never before. Name areas of the city such as Crime Alley or the bridges. Talk about the founding families (Elliots, Waynes, and Cobblepotts) by extension explore the history. My suggestion would be to adapt the mini series Gates of Gotham.

They could look to the Arkham games for inspiration for the gadgets in terms of looks. And to deviate from the Nolanverse, Bruce will be the one to make them. This way, he can look like the Tony Stark of the DCMU to the movie going public. People do make comparisons between Iron Man and Batman with them both being billionaire crime fighters, plus they're the highlights of their respective teams.
Maybe the New 52 suit could be the basis for his appearance for his appearance; it looks like the basic suit used for years but has the armor like we've seen in Nolan's trilogy.
As for a villain, maybe to let people know the new Batman's gonna fight bigger threats, we could get someone like Man-Bat or Clayface. The Court of Owls would be cool to see, but not for a first movie; using them would add to the historic side of Gotham too.
While Silver St. Cloud would be nice to see in a movie, I'd kinda like to see Julie Madison, a more developed Julie than her "there for appearances" part in Batman & Robin. She was Bruce's first love interest afterall.

yeah but why not just adapt a more modern love interesting. relaveitely modern. it seems to me that the only reason to put in julie madison is because she was the first, but that doesn't make her all that interesting. from what i've heard. St. Cloud is in the top 3 batman love interests and thats among the two main stays, cat woman and talia.
also i'm slightly hesitant of including the monster characters straight up because they are simply monsters. i don't want to lose the intelligence of plot.

I guess that would rule out Croc too, unless they go retro Croc, ie mobster with a skin condition.
I'd just like to see a villain that has yet to be used on film while also being part of the new tone being set for the series, and trying to distance itself from Nolan's (not an insult towards Nolan but we just don't need to be copycatting when they have so much potential to do more if they're creating a larger movie universe).

Don't worry lopli, my idea will unite everyone against me. Forget Batman, go Batman Beyond on everyone's ass! Kidding, kidding, a Batman in line with what Cavey and BIB are talking about is in order. But on a serious note, I would like to see Batman Beyond attempted after that.
I think that if DC got their shit together and planned ahead, Batman Beyond would be a very interesting thing to do in another 10 to 15 years.

the more advanced we get in technology and what not the more likely batman beyond can be a viable modern batman.

That's true, but the idea that Batman gets old and acts as a mentor with resources to a younger person, new school meets old school, that's always marketable.

I reread the entire thread, which isn't that long. This version of Batman you two were describing sounds pretty damn cool. As amazing as Nolan's series is, that type of Batman has potential unlike anything we've had prior in cinema. With respect to Nolan, I always wondered why his Gotham continued to lose its personality and become more and more like the other major metropolitan cities. In the first movie Gotham had some personality, especially because the Narrows were integral to the plot. Then in movie 2, Nolan didn't focus on characterizing the city as much. It was all audio and acting to establish the tone and engage the audience, but you still felt that you inhabited that world without rules. However, in spite of the honest attempt in TDKR to make Gotham look unlike any real city, there was no attempt to make it feel unlike any other city. Even in the end product though, the attempt to make Gotham look unique aesthetically was much more muted than advertised: Pittsburgh still looks like Pittsburgh, Chicago still like Chicago, etc.

I'm completely fine with Deathstroke being the main villain. Do you guys remember how epic the fight was between him and Bats in Arkham Origins? I just hope it's not a one off. I'd love to see him fight Teen Titans at some point
