Just caught Agents of Shield's latest episode with Adrian Pelliki (spell check). Initially, I wasn't enjoying the episode too much. Not sure what was wrong with me, because I knew what was going to happen, but let's say that when it did, my opinion totally changed. In all honesty, it wasn't the strongest episode this season, but the action was impressive and I enjoyed seeing Pelliki kick ass. Anyone else catch an episode lately?
In other news, I was thinking of what Marvel might debut two weeks from now in the new trailer they'll be dropping. It's gonna have to be a mixture comprised mostly of the trailer given to us, and maybe a clip from one of the SDCC scenes. My money's going on the party scene being included, as well as some extended shots of Iron Man flying in his new suit, the Thanos stuff, and a little of Thor landing on top of a tank. I don't think they'll release the entirety of the SDCC footage, but considering they're going to try and hold stuff back, they'll probably pull from what many a fan already knows exists.

Yeah, you're likely right. I think we've learned from TASM2 that publishing new unseen footage too often can kill the hype.

I thought last night's episode "House Divided" or something like that, was kind of weak. I like Ward and all, but Sky just went back to being the same old Sky we thought we'd lost for the better. At least the episode left off with something interesting to look forward to.

Back to liking AOS. It's actually been really solid the past several episodes. I've lost count. There was a really funny Sonic the Hedgehog reference in the episode titled "The Dirty Half Dozen". Granted, this show is no Daredevil, but it's a completely different corner of the Marvel universe, and it warrants its existence with its entertainment value. Anyone still keeping up with this?
EDIT: I made this post while still watching the most current episode. There's some gun-fu in here that's top notch. Head over heals above any of the choreography from previous episodes. Also, Marvel is getting a lot better about their easter eggs not being so on the nose. Maybe not so much for AOU if critical consensus is anything to go by, but the RT meter can be discussed in the AOU thread I suppose.

So, I saw the finale. It was pretty good. There were some moments where they went a little over the top, even for this show's standards. On the other hand, a lot of threads were tied up neatly while other doors were blown wide open. It's enough to make you want to stick around for another season at least. The way that it ends though, while predictable, it was still really exciting to see it happen. The terrigen crystals fall into open waters, which pollutes the fish, who are then caught by fisherman who sell the fish to various buyers around the world, etc. I really liked the way it was shot too. Just gave it a cinematic feel.

Season 3 is well under way. I posted about it in the "Race to x amount of posts" thread. Episode 2 continues the momentum the first generated, and maybe even topped it in the pay off department. Fitz has sort of become my second favorite character in the show. He's better as a dorky badass than a damsel in distress. Fitz and Simmons back together again, but this time the romance may actually play out! Also, anyone catch that Wonder Woman reference thrown toward Mockingbird actress's Adriane Palicki? It was pretty slick.

Did anyone catch the latest episode of SHIELD? It was titled 4 thousand something hours. I thought the execution was fantastic. My wife on the other hand felt it was very cliche'd, and she has consumed far more fiction of this type than I have. By that I mean, nerdy romance fiction. All I'm saying is that she has a different perspective on it than I, and I can understand how this episode wouldn't be her cup of tea. Still though, I enjoyed the heck out of it.
Minor spoiler, poor Fitz.

Marvel's Most Wanted pilot ordered by ABC: screenrant.com/agents-of-shield-marvels-most-wanted-pilot-order-abc/I'm conflicted about this. I personally don't think any one character on Agents of SHIELD is compelling enough to head their own show. The show has taken tremendous strides in its 2nd and 3rd season, but that's because it knows how to work as an ensemble now. On the other hand, Palicki has star quality and I do think she's got the talent to lead her own show. It's also nice to see strides toward equality in terms of representation in the superhero game (at least in terms in there being women super heroes/agents). If they can add something to make her character a little more engaging, then I'm in.

Saw an episode recently, looking to watch two more tonight. It was really good. I stayed away for the last 3 weeks because I was furious that Brett Dalton is still on the damn show. Nothing against the actor but this character has had 2 full arcs. We've seen him be good, which was boring as hell. Then, we saw him be bad, which sort of justified the boring as hell good character shit. But I'm sick of the character . However, I really liked the way the character was used in this last episode. Won't say more because I'm tired of using spoiler tags, but yeah. This definitely has promise. Oh, and I love the way the speedster was used in this episode. I calculated her speed based on some dialogue one of the agents spouted. The speedster was able to move 6 meters in just a 30th of a second. So, if you round down to 3 ft, then that's: (30 x 60 sec x 60 min x 18ft) / 5280 = (approximately) 368 mph. So, she was definitely going over that. Though Quicksilver's speed from the movies wasn't given, she definitely seemed like she was going faster, as her movement was practically invisible.

Got around to finishing the most recent episode, Parting Shot. It was good. All I have to say is, Bravo Marvel tv. They managed to make me feel an emotional connection to characters I didn't even realize I was that attached to. Best of luck to Adrian Palicki and Nick Blood in their upcoming spinoff, Marvel's Most Wanted.

Caught last week's episode "Watchdogs" on Hulu today. Good stuff. I enjoyed learning more about Mack and not focusing so much on Gideon Malick. Some of this show's villains bore me. I'm kind of just watching for the overall plot development, enjoying the special effects and the characters' short term interactions. I haven't really been too invested into what's going on in each individual episode per se'. However, some of these crazy, one-off splinter groups end up being really cool.

Season 3 ended with a bang. It's a fun show to watch. The finale didn't leave me wanting more, but it certainly was satisfying. Not to cause any confusion, I'll certainly be tuning into season 4. It's just that I like where we're at right now. While I've started to enjoy the show for its own merits, it's hard not to be discouraged by the definite rift between Marvel proper and their tv division. The show is building toward this whole Inhumans thing which may never fully materialize the way it was promised. While it could still be very cool on tv, it's not what was offered, so I can't help but feel disappointed. That's not the show's fault tho.

I was on comicbookmovie.com and saw an article about how ABC is rethinking their approach to Marvel. In the peanut gallery, or erm, the comments section, I saw a meme with a picture of Chloe Bennet’s Daisy Johnson character and the caption, “Homeless and lives in a van. Perfect hair, clean clothes and insane computers running off the car battery”. It was the response to that that sent me on a tirade. To that meme, someone replied “Yeah, because that’s the weird part in a show where ALIEN BLOOD BRINGS A DUDE BACK FROM THE DEAD.”
So anyway, here’s a giant wall of text I'm posting here to prevent getting into an argument with someone who will most likely just want to fight and not have a discussion:
That argument is so tired. It calls on the implication that because the show has elements of science fiction in it, inconsistencies and weakness of conception should be overlooked, dismissed, or are beside criticism “because it isn’t real to begin with”. That argument says you can’t have it both ways.
I contend that you can have it both ways. Look at Netflix’s Daredevil (season 1 especially) and Jessica Jones. If that’s not sci-fi enough for you, look Beyond Netflix’s Marvel content and check out Stranger Things. That show has secret government programs, alternate realities or subspaces of our reality, super powers, monsters, etc. The program has all of that weird shit and yet manages to convey a sense of wonder of the unknown. It does so without feeling unintentionally silly and without the poorly conceived character models that Agents of Shield has had to deal with and develop or slowly abandon. Stranger Things is about ordinary people who undergo extraordinary circumstances, and it treats the ordinary as though it was a real thing and somehow manages not to feel silly. It has a sense of humor without undercutting the emotional stakes. That sounds a lot like what Marvel is all about, yet when it comes to their content on ABC they’ve not always hit the mark. I’ve stuck with the show, A.O.S. and I do enjoy it, but if the show's creators were to dismiss their poor execution of certain characters the way you're suggesting we should do, it would prevent the show from getting better. I’m glad they’ve improved and that they do seem to be paying attention. I know that the fandom’s loudest criticisms are often the least relevant criticisms, so it actually means something that they have been able to turn it around.

Forgot to mention that Felipe Smith's take on Ghost Rider is coming to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in season 4. I'm happy, because I'm not really interested in the adventures of Daisy Johnson. I'll continue to watch the show and I do think it's gotten pretty good now, but sometimes a person can fall off a good show for this reason or that. Has nothing to do with the show I guess. That's kind of where I'm heading with this one, unless Ghost Rider hooks me in and causes me to forsake some of my priorities, lol.

I was watching the Luke Cage Trailer 3 breakdown at Emergency Awesome's channel on Youtube, which is where I heard that S4 of AOS is going to be at 10pm. So... yeah! New time slot. I didn't think much of the talk about the show getting 'edgier' or whatever but that was before I knew of the time change. AOS hasn't really been much for showing blood or letting the violence be what it needs to be at times. That's just not really what the show had been going for, but I guess with Ghost Rider they felt they needed to change that.
All I know is, if Mac makes himself an axe shotgun, we'd better be able to see him use the axe part of it because I didn't see him do s*** with it in season 3. He used it, yes, but against zombified SHIELD agents, I expected more out of the choreography. Guess you can't show too much at an 8pm time slot, but that makes sense.
