Windows insider reports new information: au.gamespot.com/news/subscription-based-xbox-720-priced-at-300-with-500-standard-model-6406544The Xbox 720 will launch at $300 for a subscription-based model and $500 for a standard model. It will have an always-online requirement. The Xbox will stop functioning if an internet connection drops out for more than three minutes. Reveal date: May 21st with more info to be revealed at E3 and the Build developer conference. Release date: November. Microsoft is also planning a $99 "Stingray" Xbox 360. No information about this platform. Microsoft was working on an entertainment-focused Xbox that would not play games. He said this device was called "Yumo," and speculated that Microsoft decided not to pursue this so as not to confuse the market. ---------- Meanwhile the resentment towards Microsoft is growing... Sony must be loving this.

come to think of it internet is functioning for me at least rather consistently. there are some issues with connections and when that happens its out for nearly a day depending on what the problem is.
so overall the whole internet connection stability thing isn't the problem. the problem is demographic and how this effects developers. so x-box has to always be online does that mean every game needs servers to run? i don't know, but there is always a risk.

Xbox 720 will run on Windows 8: news.yahoo.com/next-gen-xbox-reportedly-run-core-windows-8-183034623.htmlThe link also goes into more detail about the different models and prices: Doing the math however, at $10 a month for 2 years added in with $299, they'll be paying $539 total compared to if they only buy the core system for $499. Honestly, I'm considering jumping ships to PS4. The whole "always online" Xbox is what kills it for me, and it doesn't sound like they're getting rid of it. I want to be able to play my games without worrying about my connection going out.

Don't think I'll get either until they're well established and have a rich library of games, honestly.
