From Lego Movie directors Chris Miller and Phillip Lord and set to be released July 20, 2018: variety.com/2015/film/news/spider-man-animated-movie-coming-in-2018-1201477933/ So...yeah. This is happening apparently. Not sure why though. I guess it's so Sony feels they still have something about Spider-Man really in their control. I'll just say this though, I think this needs to be about Miles Morales, especially given how so many fans wanted him for the MCU. Peter gets live action, Miles gets animation. Everyone wins.

At first I was frustrated. Then I realized who was directing it. These guys are pretty legit, I'm actually really excited about the potential here. Best movie of all time?!??
I need to catch up on Miles Morales Spidey though. I've only read through the first 3 tpb's. I don't know what we're at now, but it has been about 2 years since I was current. Point is, I'm open to the idea and want to become more acquainted with the character.

Cool. I like seeing animated features in the cold weather. What's interesting is that Warners is doing something similar with Batman, only simultaneously. Once again, their movie will come out first (similar to how Suicide Squad was going to come out before Sinister Six).

I know this may sound far fetched to you guys, but I wrote a script for a Spider-Man movie and I'm going to try to send it to Sony. The villains in it are Kraven and Chameleon. It's my proudest work as a writer, I actually really enjoy just reading it. I don't know if Sony would ever buy it off me or something, but I could see it being an animated Spider-Man movie.

I know this doesn't concern the movie itself, but it does concern Miles Morales. Do you guys think maybe they cast someone who's half black as the love interest in Spider-Man: Homecoming so that in the future, they can do their own version of Miles Morales? What I'm trying to say is, is it all that far fetched to think maybe if Tom Holland's character and Zendaya's character had a kid at some point that they would make him into Miles Morales? I get that Miles obviously has completely different parents in the comics, but I still think it would be a cool spin on him to introduce him into the MCU

Well first off, I think you got characters mixed up. Zendaya is playing a girl named Michelle, who is not Peter's love interest. The love interest is Liz Allan, portrayed by Laura Harrier. And I do see where you're going with this, but it's not likely. Even if that were the case, it would be well over a decade before said version of Miles would take the mantle. I think part of what makes Miles interesting is that he had zero interaction with Peter Parker before he died and took over being Spider-Man out of his own sense of power and responsibility. Making him his son wouldn't be as special.

Yeah, good point. I heard they were using a "classic villain" so it will be neat to see who they have Miles squaring up against.

I bet it's going to be Mysterio, he'd be so different from all the live action stuff, and he's perfect for the animated format.

I would love to see Mysterio! I know people are tired of Goblins in Spider-Man movies, but I've always wanted to see Ultimate Green Goblin in a movie. It's such a different spin on the character, he's like the size of the Hulk and he can shoot fire out of his hands.

I bet it's going to be Mysterio, he'd be so different from all the live action stuff, and he's perfect for the animated format. Jake Gyllenhaal is Mysterio in the live action version! It's amazing how a year will change things, haha! Very cool. So I read this today- Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse (NYCC) screenrant.com/spider-man-spider-verse-nycc-footage-reactions-reviews/I whole heartedly believe this will be the best Spider-man movie to grace the silver screen, and that it won't even be close. I believe in the creators behind this, I really do. Sony may have dropped the ball on Venom, but there's a totally different approach to this film. Who knows? It could give the animation studios a run for their money next year for best animated film.

It looks great, but best Spider-Man movie to grace the silver screen maybe seems a bit too optimistic. Better than Raimi's Spider-Man 2? That would be phenomenal!
