How you feeling Dylan? I posted a while back about some stuff in the boxing and MMA thread. I know I tend to be the combat sports enthusiast around here, but I thought it would be worth posting in there because a Jordan-esque type of figure recently retired whereas Mike Tyson is coming back looking better than he has in 15 years for an "exhibition".
Bigger things in my life include the baby, who will be here very soon. We're very excited, but just trying to get things in order so we can breath and enjoy a little time together before they come along. Due date is Dec. 7th, but it's looking like we could have 'em by Thanksgiving.

Congratulations! That's awesome man. I'm feeling okay, trying to take better care of myself physically as I've put on a lot of weight over the years. Its pretty hard. Healthy food is hard to get used to and isnt always the most pleasurable of experiences haha. I might as well eat sawdust and only drink tap water at this point

Had a random thought today: I think Paul Giamatti or Rainn Wilson would make a good Doctor Octopus.

You know what, I think I agree! Stanli Tucci would also be a good Octavius, even if he was already in Captain America.
In other news, my son was born on Saturday, 11/28 at 11:07am. He weighed in a 7 lbs 3 oz, and is 20 inches long. He's healthy, and my wife is okay too.
In other, other news, I watched the Tyson vs. Jones Jr. fight in the hospital. It was good! No one got knocked out, but it was entertaining no doubt. Both guys were far removed from their prime but they still got it though. In the 90s, this would've been the fight of the decade. Nobody would've ever predicted they'd fight in 2020.
It's incredibly surreal, this life we have. Many blessings to you all.

I was reading your post from Nov. 29th about healthy eating. One thing that helps me is exercise. Like, the more I exercise, the more my body actually craves the healthier stuff. The less exercise I do, the less my body cares. It could be because I'm 33 now, but it helps.
I saw the Twitter reactions to WW84. Of course, they're all super positive, but I'm just happy it's finally coming out. As far as my personal life goes, we are doing good. Newborn babies completely annihilate any semblance of a sleep schedule, haha, but teamwork makes the dream work as they say. Love this little guy. One moment he's at peace, the next is complete chaos. My favorite times with him are when he "derps out" over a surprise bodily function. I've caught myself marveling over the little guy and am reminded of those series of SNL sketches with Kate McKinnon. You know the one where she's in a group interview of people who have all been abducted by aliens. McKinnon's character is always experiencing a slew of terrible things, but the other people in the interview are ridiculously euphoric and emotional. I'm getting that treatment right now, the "positive UFO abduction" experience.

I love how curious and surprised babies are. A friend of mine became a father around two years ago and his baby is a joy to be around. I have been exercising actually, I do 90 reps a day with dumb bells and i go for a walk three times a day. I basically just walk in a giant rectangle around my neighborhood. It ends up being about a quarter mile, so I'm walking about 3/4 of a mile a day

So with all the announcements from Marvel and 2021 and 2022 seemingly set, I have some predictions about what we may get in the two years after that. 2023: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Blade, Spider-Man 4 2024: Fantastic Four, Avengers 5
Now, I could see F4 and Spidey being interchangeable given Watts' involvement in both, but I'm assuming Sony would continue to want to put out a Spider-Man movie every two years. Plus, I can already imagine the F4 teaser putting the emphasis on the 4 when "2024" pops up at the end. Besides that, we'll probably get a Young Avengers or Champions project with all the young heroes incoming.

Every now and then I like to go back and read through the "Rate the last movie you saw" thread. It's fun to remind myself what we thought of all the big and "important" smaller films of the last decade. Especially when I'm rewatching some of those films. It's incredible how time changes things, and conversely, how some things don't change. Dylan, your reaction to Spider-Man Homecoming is priceless. It's 110% you. I hope you don't mind me including the snippet, but my favorite part of your review is when you said:
"To me, Tom Holland as Spider-Man is like cousin Eddie in the Family Vacation movies: he's great in small doses, but after a certain point, he gets insanely annoying and you want to blow his brains out."
I mean, wow! That's passion. To anyone stumbling on this, no harm will or ever was being plotted against Mr. Holland. T'was hyperbole. Also in that thread, we discussed Spider-Man 3. This was because Dylan had caught Spider-Man 3.2 and was kind enough to give us his thoughts on it. Something I found fun to revisit was our lament at how the movie ended. It had such an adult ending, kind of melancholy and anticlimactic. It left you wondering, whatever became of Spider-man and MJ? While there were rumors that Peter Parker may have had another lady in his life played by Anne Hathaway, I'm glad that that 4th film never came to fruition. At the time I wanted nothing more than for Raimi to redeem himself, but rereading the rumored plot lines... I think bringing in Black Cat as another romantic foil, or even as the Vultress seems like a step even further into Bully Maguire levels of silliness.
Now, there are rumors that a 4th Spider-Man film from the MCU could be the long awaited 4th and final installment of Raimi's beloved franchise. To that I say, if Raimi ditches the aforementioned plot lines and cooks up something special to complete his series, then I'm super excited and on board for that.

There really isn't anything like revisiting threads from a decade ago! :')

There's only been 5 people who comment on the boards these days. That said, you guys notice how sometimes a category will have like 11 viewers? It happens often enough. Could it be older users, or is it the case that new people are consistently stumbling across these threads? It seems unlikely that someone would type anything close to "lordsofspam.proboards.com"
Also, why doesn't anyone else ever join? Wish they would.

Hello to the (possibly) bots out there visiting these spaces. Hello moderators... are there moderators on these threads? Are we the moderators? I don't know anymore. Hello to the actual users of these boards. Couple thoughts...
1) I went on this sad, rabbit hole of YouTube videos of paparazzi harassing celebrities. It's not a thing I'm going to continue. Now that I've done it I wish I hadn't given these assholes the clicks, but I cannot undo what I did. It boggles my mind how divided people seem to be on what's acceptable treatment for celebrities. Being harassed in public by snarky assholes every day is not okay. Somehow, half of us decided this was the price of celebrity, that somehow it's part of the contract a person signs when they agree to take on a big role. It is not. The videos that saddened me the most are the ones focused on Tobey Maguire. Those sad blue eyes man...
2) On Tobey Maguire, no performance from Tobey has blown me away more than his turn in 2009's "Brothers". That movie had me so hyped for Spider-Man 4, and honestly, proves that they could've done something special (albeit less extreme) with a black suited Spider-Man had Raimi been up for it. "Brothers" showed that Tobey could actually be intimidating. Fan art shows a "war torn", veteran Spider-man alongside Holland and Garfield's more youthful takes on the character. If I'm being honest, I don't think that would fit at all with Raimi's original take on the character. We've seen what the darker side of that Peter Parker looks like, and it's not what the fan art seems to convey. I have to say though, seeing those troubling videos of poor Tobey taken by the paparazzi in combination with a repeat viewing of "Brothers"... Tobey is very much a guy who could play an unhinged, at the end of his rope, veteran Spider-Man. More than anything, I wish happiness for the man and am thankful for his contribution to my childhood wonderment. I hope to see him in more movies, but he honestly seems tired of the fame.
3) I'm getting a great deal of entertainment in studying how Marvel is redefining story telling for visual media. In the Loki thread I discussed how the future of some shows is uncertain (Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye). To be more specific, I wonder how shows like WandaVision will operate in the overall machinery that is Phase 4 MCU and beyond. If we continue to think trilogy minded, WandaVision is a sequel to Infinity War, and the 2nd film in a trilogy of stories that include Infinity War, WandaVision, and Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. That in and of itself breaks from tradition, as Infinity War is not the beginning, but Part 1 of the end of a 20+ movie Saga. If we aren't thinking trilogy minded, then what do we call WandaVision? It's a tie-in show, but it's more than that, as Kevin Feige has elaborated on. To that end, is the Hawkeye show the first piece in a new trilogy of sorts, or a sequel that leads into other sequels... same goes for Ms. Marvel. Funny how it's so hard to look at these stories from a lens outside of that trilogy mindset. That's how ingrained the trilogy is to my perception of entertainment: I can't fully see what's outside of it.
EDIT: The last 2 days I've done my best to light up these boards like a Christmas tree. I hope my ramblings have provided some semblance of distraction for those who need a short break.
