So this isn't really about DoFP, but it's about X-Men general and I didn't want to make a new thread.
I have a prediction: X-Men 4 will be out in 2016.
Let's look at the facts here:
* The Wolverine takes place after X3 and the X-Men have disbanded.
* Set pics for it have shown the Jean Grey School is involved.
* Days of Future Past will bring back cast members from the original trilogy.
* The Fantastic Four reboot is now officially set to come out in 2015.
* Fox and Mark Millar want to build their own complement Marvel universe connecting X-Men and Fantastic Four.
Now here is my pure speculation:
* Fox probably wants to put out 1 Marvel movie a year.
* Given the info that The Wolverine takes place after X3 (let's say 5-10 years) and the X-Men disbanded, I'm betting by the end of the movie, Logan will restart the school, and actually set up X4.
* Bringing in "present" characters from the original trilogy in DoFP could be easing both the cast members and newer audiences into an official X-Men 4.
* It's very likely the new Fantastic Four will be in the present, and if Fox wants them to crossover with X-Men, they need to bring the X-Men franchise back to the present as well. As fun as First Class was and how I'd like it to be a trilogy in complement to the original, it's time to move forward instead of looking back.
As for what could happen in an X-Men 4, here are my ideas:
* Human-mutant relations have been relatively peaceful since X3, and there hasn't been a real need for the X-Men to suit up.
* Pretty similar to the recent comics, Logan, Kitty, Beast, Storm, and Iceman are running the new school, featuring a lot of new mutants we haven't seen on film (like Idie and Quentin Quire). I wouldn't go so far as to name the film Wolverine and the X-Men though (since alot of people complain the X-movies involve him too much anyway).
* Magneto has fully regained his powers and reignites his war on humanity, and in turn anti-mutant hysteria.
*Charles has been in his new body (which can walk) and been living happily with Moira since X3 (for all intents and purposes, we'll ignore First Class since she would have to be much older than she was in X3; it's not like the franchise timeline isn't convuluted as it is), but Magneto's return brings him back to the school, which freaks alot of people out.
This is just me though. What do you guys think about an X4, an FF crossover, or anything else?
