Nice to see "Ultimate" Coulson is as big a fan of Cap as MCU Coulson.

So the season finale. I'd say it was alright. Pros: -Set up for Lizard next season, and possibly Eddie Brock as Venom. -More serious. -Despite bad costume, Goblin was done well, even having the glider. -Aunt May taking in the rest of the team reminded me of when she let Johnny and Bobby stay in the Ultimate comics. -Spidey's jokes are getting better. Cons: -All the fucking cutaway gags. -Introductions. Spidey, we know who you and everyone else is. Stop breaking the fourth wall and get to action. -Ambiguity about Ock's fate. Did Osborn kill him? -Harry angry at Spider-Man and Peter not revealing himself to him. Cause that always works out in the end. -So Osborn turned into the Goblin because of a serum mixed from Spider-Man and Venom's DNA, even though Venom is partly Spider-Man's DNA already. Sure, okay. It's not like the science of this show isn't screwy enough already. This is still far from the best Spidey show, but it seems like they're trying to make it more serious and cutting back on the fourth wall jokes. Maybe season two will be better (and have more Spidey villains), but I'm still hoping Marvel cuts its losses with the show and end it there.

See, I don't mind when the comics or a show focuses on nontraditional villains. I loved the mtv Spider-man show, given time. My favorite run of the Amazing Spider-man stories is still JMS's, controversial Gwen story, and The Other story aside. It's just that this show stopped being enjoyable to watch for me. I'm going to catch up on the series though, starting... now. Be back in a while.

Anime flavor isn't working out so well for me, given my crappy internet service doesn't do so well with their media player. I'm hoping Disney will put the first season on Netflix soon.

Not too crazy about Lizard's look:

So apparently Disney did put Ultimate Spider-man on Netflix. I'm on episode 15 or 16 now. I like it better than my first experience with it, but that's mostly because I can now watch it in HD without the delayed audio and freeze frame.
Spidey is still an idiot though, and the cause of a lot of problems in several episodes thus far. It's frustrating.

Finished the season last week. All in all, I agree with BIB. The show started to get better late into the season, but they'll never have an 'A' grade program without completely changing the spirit of it. End it at season 2. I'm actually looking forward to new episodes though, that's progress.

So, trailer for Season Two: ! Let's just hope it ends at Two, and we get a better more serious Spidey show afterwards. Also, I found this funny (read it in Keaton's and Bell's voices):

Just bought the Spectacular Spider-Man Season 2 DVDs... And boy was it so much better! So yeah, I also agree with Blacky, hopefully they'll stop after 2 seasons for the new show and maybe try something of higher standard for Spidey.

The first episode with the Lizard has leaked online: www.watchcartoononline.com/ultimate-spider-man-season-2-episode-1-the-lizardEh, it was alright, but I'm reminded immediately of what makes this show bad: needless (re)introductions, cut-away gags (like the Amazing Friends bits and video game chase), and fourth wall breaking. Storywise though, I think they've really messed with Connors too much. I mean, they made Lizard work even though Connors was a tech scientist and not a geneticist, but I'm getting tired of Ock being responsible for all the villains; Venom, Goblin, Lizard, and you just know he'll have a part in creating Electro and Rhino later on. Besides that, Connors taking another dose of the formula was a dumb move. "Hey, my arm grew back but it's all green and scaly. I should take another hit, maybe it'll make things better." I feel like I can stomach this show at least for one more season, but I really hope it just ends there. I will be flabbergasted if it gets a third one.

Spidey used his taser webbing against Electro. TASER webbing. Against ELECTRO. Anyone else remember when a cartoon Spidey was actually smart?
