But that'll take years to happen. What if the avengers fails? Who would want to go through all that trouble again for a justice league movie?

well yeah. the avengers success determines audience interest in justice league movie. if avengers fails they wouldn't care to go through the whole solo movie set up.
either way i'd say audiences will be warn out by so man super hero movies coming out.

I'm not sure I'm interesting in a reinvented Batman just one year after TDKR. But who knows, if it works it works. As for the Avengers not working out, I'd say I have more faith in that than I do the next Spidey, and I'm expecting good things from the people over at Sony this time around. I'm sure the Avengers will do fine, and WB will have that much more incentive to make their movie. 2013 sounds aweful soon though, if they're going to use Avengers as "cause".

They just meant Justice League for 2013, not another Batman. If anything, how well Green Lantern and Avengers do will determine if Justice League can work.

A new Batman could work, I would rather Bale though.

What the hell are they doing?! Are they this desperate to compete with Marvel that they can't wait to do solo movies or try to get Cavill or Reynolds as part of it? Now I feel the way about this movie the way I did years ago: fearful.

Yeah, this doesn't sound like a good move. What the hell are they thinking. This isn't like the direct to dvd stuff where they can just get away with that.

Wasn't there a big statement released a couple of months ago where DC and Warners announced that they wouldn't be doing what Marvel was doing simply because they felt that their characters were a lot bigger, in terms of complexity, and so because of that they'd be focusing on single character franchises? I remember this because I got offended at the way the statement was worded, and then Caveboy replied by saying that he didn't see anything wrong with the way that DC had phrased their statement. Ring a bell anyone? I tried to find the article with the press release earlier today, but I couldn't remember where I read it.
Point is, they did say something like that, and now it seems like they're going back on their word, but instead of doing it the ideal way with Reynolds or the new Superman (or both maybe), they're getting a whole new cast.
