Did you guys think it was better than Man of Steel?

I'm a bit torn on that topic. On one hand, it was cool to watch more heroes in action and working together. But on the other, Man of Steel had more of that event feel for me that Justice League didn't. The way I see it, despite Man of Steel's mixed reception, it still felt like a complete story as Wonder Woman was, both probably having little interference from WB; that may be the reason those two movies are regarded as the best films of the DCEU thus far. But as I said, seeing Snyder's cut may change things for me. Since my last post, I've been hearing more and more about how much WB cut from the film and how what we got was very different from Snyder's vision. It's basically the same thing that happened with BvS and Suicide Squad but to a much larger degree. I still thought the version we got was pretty good, but it was so different from Snyder's other films, and it really makes me angry at WB for everything they did; it's no wonder it's underperforming at the box office.

I think Man of Steel is one of the best CBM's we've ever had. Like, it does follow the Batman Begins' narrative structure and doesn't do it as well, but it's much more ambitious than everything else the DCEU has put out thus far. That includes Wonder Woman. Granted, Wonder Woman ended up being the better film, but Man of Steel made a real effort to answer the question, "What does it mean to be Superman today?". While many weren't satisfied with the way the movie answered that question, the movie still gave us action in a superhero film that far exceeded anything we had ever seen before (at least, until Winter Soldier and Civil War came out).
So... for me, Justice League doesn't come close. I'll just be honest about it, I liked Man of Steel more than Wonder Woman too. I'm not saying it was better, just that I enjoyed Man of Steel more.

At first I wasn't interested in this. The main 3 reasons were, 1) I saw the Snyder cut of Batman v. Superman and didn't like it, 2) I saw the Snyder cut of Watchmen and thought the theatrical was better, and 3) this is the 3rd director's cut of a film from Snyder that I'm aware of and I just wish he and the studio could demonstrate some form of synergy for once. I was wondering how it is that this man gets so many director's cuts released when other director's are just stuck with what shakes out and then a friend pointed out to me that Zack is married to one of his producer's. That has to count for something.
Anyway, all that said, I've changed course and am glad the Snyder cut is coming. For whatever reason, Snyder cut die hards have become the butt of many jokes online to the point that the Kaley Cuoco lead Harley Quinn show even took a jab. Regardless, I think it's great when a fandom is able to rally and show studios enough interest to get things done. I'll be surprised if I think his version is a masterpiece, but I doubt it'll be worse than what we got. Maybe it'll have some soul to it this time.

What else can you say? Hallelujah. Also, it's been confirmed it will release as four episodes with a combined cut coming later.

Cool! I look forward to the finished version with polished CGI. Snyder mentioned during the "panel" that we'd get to see Flash do something in this version that we've never seen him do on film before(tv show included??). I'm in.

At first I was disappointed. It seemed that we were going to get a real saga out of this. If anyone can stretch the material meant for a movie and make it more of a series it's Zack Snyder.
Then I realized that Snyder's initial vision was for this to be a feature film. In that regard, it seems like this was a decision to preserve his original intent. This can mean a variety of things though. We could have an amazing action movie on our hands that doesn't play well in an episodic format. Or, we can have something that's not strong and would lose the audience's interest, providing diminishing returns. Everyone wants to get that weekly buzz akin to GoT or Mandalorian, but not everything is built for that. I'm still super excited for this though. Glad it's coming out in March too, my Spring Break.

I usually binge stream a new season of a show over a few days anyway (which is why I'm holding off on watching any WandaVision until the final week), so I would have watched the Snyder Cut in one go anyway. Besides, I heard it may still be four episodes just released all at once.

It's like getting excited all over again, like I can push Joss-tice League out of my memory. We got fully armored Darkseid, Granny Goodness, and Leto getting a second chance at Joker and actually interacting with Batfleck. I'm so ready.

For sure, I am definitely getting excited for this all over again. Darkseid looks huge! Also, I'm excited to see Jared Leto's Joker back, even if I'm not the biggest fan of the interpretation. What little we've seen of it anyways.
On a side note, isn't funny how this movie is being characterized most by who's directing it as opposed to the characters the movie is about? In the case of this version of the film it makes sense, but Whedon was always meant to be a safe closer the way that Ron Howard was supposed to be for Solo and yet Joss-tice League is how we remember the film. Like, I know that Solo was not the success Disney wanted it to be, but who really remembers that Ron Howard was the guy who ended up directing it outside of the Star Wars fan base and hardcore movie buffs? I'd argue that we'd have the same situation on our hands were it not for Joss's penchant for creating toxic work environments.

There's also the fact Joss set a tone so different from two previous films that people were wanting Snyder's version since the theatrical cut came out; like, people knew Snyder's style well enough to see what we got was not his vision. But yeah, Joss has really been through the wringer over the past year with everything that's come to light about Justice League and Buffy.
